Civil servants need to experience and practise car-lite lifestyle themselves if they are to implement the policy well.

All people need to be trained to walk slowly/ keep left when using streets. As it is, cyclist and other PMD users are getting frustrated by lack of gahmen understanding about how to implement car lite policies because too many civil serpants drive pte cars etc.

At sentosa board walk, many hospitals and shopping centres, travelators and escalators force people to walk on the right side which is WRONG EDUCATION. Imagine if there were no road direction travel laws on use of expressways and roads, mayhem would occur: and the same is happening on footpaths because whilst the average speed of commute has increased with PMD users increasing, LTA has failed in its implementation of travel direction policies and path usage etiquette policies resulting in anticipated and expected mayhem on the streets.

The only time when pedestrians 'keep right' is the rare/ illegal situation when walking along the main road and against traffic flow direction so that they can take evasive action if an out of control car comes along/ be less oblivious to road traffic activity): due to the disparity in speeds (pedestrian=4kph, car probably 10x more) as for footpaths, the speed difference between pedestrians and PMD users is less obvious, so everyone needs to adhere strictly to the keep left rule to minimise path use frustration, minimise accidents and improve path use efficiency. (Even cyclist on main road have to be in same travel direction as vehicular traffic flow).

More and fatter bus lanes will also allow more cyclist a faster and unmolested path to play/work. Bring a recognised form of public good/transport (healthy, non-pollutive, harmony promoting (improves public interaction unlike pte cars)), only bicycles, public buses and other home team (fire, police, ambulance) should be allowed access to public transport bus lanes. Besides cyclist, all public bus and home team vehicles must be fitted with tamper proof cameras so that either LTA/TP can have unfettered access to any onboard footage for the purpose of accident investigations.

Civil servants need to experience and practise car-lite lifestyle themselves if they are to implement the policies well.

Cyclists and PMD should be off pedestrian paths !! If Cyclist/PMD is afraid to use the road fearing being hit by cars, the same applies to pedestrian.

Cyclist/PMD has not priority over pedestrian and they have NO RIGHTS to sound their bells or horn just to hurry pedestrian or give way to them.

CYCLIST/PMD, if you afraid being injured or killed on the road, DON'T RIDE!! We don't need another serious injury or DEATH on pedestrian paths !!! :angry :angry
Actually, war on footpath is like war during general elections in Singapore where might is right. GRCs were created to bankrupt the opposition by inflating the team sizes needed to contest elections. And the racial inclusivity was just excuse because even when minority candidate in GRC dies (Dr Balaji Sadaseven), quits (Halimah Yacob), no by election is conducted to find the essential replacement.

Anyway, PMD are indeed an attractive transport option (ask any food panda, uber eats delivery guy if he can operate without his PMD); guess what gahmen needs to do is to set footpath direction rules straight, slow movers keep LEFT.

Then use by all will be more effective and PMD users will be less likely to have to unnecessarily use their brakes so often, so often that when they need to really use them, they are found to be worn or spoilt already.

And proper keep left direction rules will mean sounding the bell less often, or in a more courteous 'hi, i'm passing' rather than an impatient 'get out of my way' manner.
