Yes, he is (was) RC. Privately he's expressed reservations about the casinos, but when push came to shove he buckled and voted yes.

He was never cut out for politics. Just didn't have the balls and gumption to stand up for what he believed in. TCB was more vocal, but still a dyed-in-the-wool PAP man.

Don't hold out any hope of either of them joining the oppo fold.

I think really, the saviour for the oppo will come in the form of one of the disenfranchised FamiLee members. maybe Shengwu? There is certainly enough firepower outside zikapore to form an opposition in exile. whether they have the will, hatred and organization to do so is something else. In many ways, sites like this with many members outside zikapore are the real opposition. The reason is that people come here and read the posts here. The PAP comes in here to monitor it and tries to manipulate it, and treats Sammyboy just like it treats any other oppo party.

So sad to know that our foreign talent doctors from Philippines and Myanmar cannot cure George Yeo wife.

Yes, it will have to come from a split in the core, either within the FamiLee or in the upper echelons of the civil service and cabinet. That's our only hope. Well near impossible otherwise to topple the regime via rigged elections, crippled opposition parties and totalitarian control of the press and grassroots. Plus frequent constitutional amendments to further tighten the political space for oppo parties and civil society.

Sadly, Shengwu, while being articulate and gutsy, has not shown any inclination towards politics. But one never knows; maybe when he's older and more mature he may feel the obligation to come back and lead the fight.
