Glen Campbell Singing "Wichita Lineman" at an Alzheimer's Benefit concert

"I am a lineman for the County
hum hum hum hum the main road
Searchin in the sun for hum hum hum
I hear you hum hum in the wire"

Whichita Lineman and Galveston I think are better then Rhinestone Cowboy.

Rhinestone Cowboy had a catchy tune and rhythm, but Wichita Lineman showcased his vocals better. Galveston was great. Another favourite of mine is Gentle On My Mind:

I can hear you singing in the wire...I can hear you thru the whine..Wichita Lineman is still on the line...by the time I get to phoenix, she will be rising...she will find the note I left hanging by the door..She looks in the mirror and stares at the wrinkles
That weren't there yesterday, And thinks of the young man she almost married..what would he think he saw her this way? I have been walking the streets so long...

And goes on & on...remember him playing the tune Pacific Gas & many others...& songs from Jimmy Webb...will certainly miss such a legendary country & crossover...singer!..." I can still hear you singing in the wire...Glen!"...ha ha ha

Whenever I hear Wichita Lineman it brings me back to my childhood in the 60's listening to Redifusion cable radio. Especially the guitar solo reminiscent of the Magnificent Seven theme or the Marlboro Man cigarette commercial.

The 1st Glen Campbell song I heard was when I saw the movie True Grit.

They keep harping on the Rhinestone Cowboy thing...he was a good session player with the wrecking crew, before he went solo...& his guitar paying is excellent....go hear him play Pacific gas..

Yeah that also he played classical numbers like Classical Gas. Anyone who plays a guitar knows that it is not an easy piece to play.

Yup, he was a great guitar player. In the recent Alice Cooper interview, Cooper said that even eddie Van Halen came to Campbell for guitar lessons.

Not only was he a great guitar player, he was also a savvy business man. I was surprised to read that he has an estimated net worth of $50 million.

Barry Gibb the last Bee Gee is also estimated to be worth $50 million.

Ha ha ha ha...all these entertainers cannot compare with " mee siam mai hum" who is definitely worth more than $50 million...at least the Barry Gibb & Glen Campbell, sang for their supper, whereas the "mee"...70% & 30% sang for his SUPPER... ha ha ha ha
