That's only true in the sweatshop factories assembling expensive hand phones. In the IT world, everybody knows that kelings are the best programmers around. Why do you think we signed CECA in the first place? It certainly isn't for the keling's monopoly on tandoori chicken or keling vegan cuisine.

What a damn joke!! Then I can show you a pink flying elephant

I like CECA. It allows towkays like me to hire lots of cheap and good IT staff from India, and it also allows us to expand our operations into India much easier. Without CECA, there would be a lot more keling palms we would have to grease.

How do stupid towkays like you know that its a real IT chap you are hiring and not one of those fake qualifications and paper mill apunehs? Even MOM and ICA don't know the difference, they let in tens of thousands of them.

Exactly. You need business man to do business. You don't need to sacrifice your Nation interest just because a few incompetent businessmen sitting at GLC wanted to do business but found no way through it exceptional CECA.

Thus CECA was born out of their incompetency not necessity.

is it because our SWF needed exposure to their banking market, huge unbanked under 30 yrs old, Fast growing gdp, 1 billion people...caught Indian fever.

"It would be mindless to have an open border without any policy framework to govern and constrain the flow of people into your job market. It will not just be wrong politics but wrong economics."

If Tharm really believes this, can we also import Politicians too? After all, its a job, just like any other job and FT politicians will be happy with a couple of hundred thousand salary rather then a couple of millions. Foreign politicians should get a work visa, just like any FT worker.

bet you such FT will do a better job pro rated their pay...............mln buck pay BUT rupiah performance!!

Those indians should be removed completely. They are the reason why our trains kept breaking down because their whole villagers are here.

Tharman has no reason to explain anything to these Indians. If these Indians learn to behave, control their kids in public, stop jumping queues with all kinds of excuses, fold their prams in tight situations, don't look down on others this would not have led to people despising them and want them out.

Ask ICA to reveal the number of Indians who took Singapore citizenship and no longer live here.

The elite make policy and they do not suffer from the problems they create. Their children go to different schools, they have their own clubs and circles and they travel differently. This is really not good for the country. The PAP may argue that they win elections. They are fooling themselves to our detriment. Look at the cabinet and you will see cluelessness, weariness, and God help us, clowns. Alright, we have no true way of judging, but that is what we see. How much confidence can we have. The Singapore government thinks relationships are transactional. In one generation a confident and proud people have had the wind taken out of their sails by their own government.

Yes, unfortunately, the pioneer generation of Singaporeans and even the ones today have made a Faustian deal with the devil. The Star that burns the brightest burns the shortest. Old Fart Lee Con You went all out for economic growth and miracles, and in the end put in a system that is not sustainable. Old Fart and the pioneer generation had a singular set of goals and went about to achieve them. Those were a) find jobs for singaporeans b) house them not in ghettos but decent housing c) educate them d) prolong their life expectancy. In order to achieve this, he demanded autocratic control and was given it.

Now that these goals have more or less been achieved, what next? This is where Lee Con You falls flat on his face and is the self promoting husker that he was. Clearly, Whore Jinx is not the best person to run a Sovereign wealth fund, clearly Gay Loong is not the best possible PeeM, and these myriad of ex SAF scholar genitals are not the best to run various ministeries and GLCs. The system he left in place did not ensure the best possible talent would run the country regardless of their political affiliations. Quite the opposite. As a result, yes men run the country now, not real talented people. How can this be good for the country moving forward? Already all the stupid policies are coming back to roost and it will get worse later.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has said it might not be possible to reach a free trade deal with India, despite he and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's attempts to revive talks.
Mr Turnbull, who arrives back in Australia this morning from India, had been talking up the significance of a joint prime ministerial commitment to re-assess the deal as one of the key outcomes from his visit.
But, before leaving, he told the ABC a deal might not eventuate.
"It may be that the conclusion will be reached that the parties are too far apart to enable a deal to be reached at this time," Mr Turnbull told AM.
"The fact is that the Indian offers have not been adequate to date."
[h=2]What does India want?[/h]
As it attempts economic transformation, India needs everything from infrastructure to energy and education, but more than any material demands, what India wants is recognition.

Mr Turnbull said the deal's future prospects would depend on whether each side was prepared to give ground on critical issues like tariff reduction and worker access.
"It has got to be a deal worth doing," said Mr Turnbull, cautioning that he and Mr Modi's desire to resuscitate the stalled process may not be able to overcome opposition to lowering protection.
"The traditions of protectionism in India run very deep.
"Now Mr Modi is changing that, but obviously these changes tend to have a period of evolution."
[h=2]Australia should aim higher than $20 billion trade with India[/h]Meanwhile, Australia has resisted India's push for it to relax some immigration restrictions — including on 457 visas — which would allow greater numbers of Indians to work in Australia.
Mr Turnbull refused to be drawn on what had prompted his predecessor Tony Abbott to say in late 2014 a deal could be completed by the end of 2015.
"You'd have to ask him that," said Mr Turnbull, who added that he did not want get into a "blame game".

Talks have been at a virtual standstill since Mr Abbott's deadline passed.
Australia has turned its attention to a trade deal with Indonesia instead, while India has focused on the Chinese-led Asian alternative to the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership.
During his visit, Mr Turnbull told business leaders Australia and India's $20 billion two-way trade was "a fraction of what we should aspire to, given the many points of intersection between our economies".
Last night, the Prime Minister said he was confident that figure would grow, with or without a formal trade deal.
"We have a great trade relationship ... and it will grow whether or not there is a free trade agreement, but it would obviously be enhanced if there was," Mr Turnbull said.
The Prime Minister's office said no timeframe had been set for the process of working out where each side stood, but the Prime Minister had asked the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to deal with the issue "urgently".

First off Aussies have brains, real brains not just the paper mache scholars that we have, secondly Ang mohs are not easily impressed by smooth talkers and glib tongues, they have a fair share of those themselves, unlike sinkie chinks whose panties immediately become moist and damp whenever their brain clitorisu as the Japanese say get turned on by the shitskin's ambidextrous mouth flute and tongueniligus.

Lastly India has a tradition of protectionism?are u frakking serious?u want us to open our cunts wide wide and our glory holes big big for ur pleasure but u cite protectionism?just like the 13 year old boy who got his dick sucked but refuse to reciprocate to his host.how rude.... whenever I go to a house party I always remember to bring cake and wine so I don't look like a freeloader.

it is very humiliating and a disgrace having a ministar to explain to a 3rd world country and its shitty people why we cannot have an open door policy. What happened to all the show off bravado and crap about our MFA people punching above its weight??? all bullsh!t talk. You never hear President Trump having to explain to mexico or middle east why he bar their refugees or why he have to build a wall to stop the mexicans!!! Likewise you never need to hear Xi jinping explain why he need to "reclaim" south china seas. He just do it. Now that's is real leadership. They are telling Modi to fark off. no need explanation as it is their country and not his to dictate. where's that crap kausikan barking about punching above its weight and yet now MFA have to explain to a 3rd world cesspool about why we need to restrict its rapists and con men from entering sinkieland. real humilating. Trump don't have to explain . he would just do it and tell india's It jobless people to go fly kite. real shameless our MFA people
