Serious Now you know why PAP keeps buying billions of $ of useless weapons

Ever wonder why we keep buying billions of $ worth of stealth frigates, submarines, fighter jets, tanks, etc. Well, wonder no more. The armament industries is one of the dirtiest and most corrupt in the world. A lot of kickbacks and bribes going on between the weapons manufacturers and the govts and armies that buy weapons from them. Look at what happened to our closest military allies, the Israelis. Most of what we buy, is bought in tandem with them. And we pay them billions to develop weapons for us, like the Iron Dome. When we buy new F-16s, they are send to Israel for modifications. MAny of our weapons are bought or modified by them. So, its no surprise we bought our Type 218SG submarines from the german company Thyssen Krupp, because the Israelis also bought subs from them. The big difference is that they have a real democracy and free press in Israel. As a result, corruption cases get exposed there, especially when they involve the govt. Over here, they never see the light of day.

So, it turns out that Thyssen Krupp has been bribing Israeli officials in order for them to buy their submarines. What do you think are the odds that they are also bribing Singapore officials to buy them too? I mean, you can make a case that Israel does need the subs as they are constantly at war, and its an element of stealth and retaliation that they need. If this is the case, then Singapore has an even poorer reason to buy these subs. The way the Jews did this submarine deal was almost identical to all the deals that the PAP/SAF does with arms manufacturers. i.e. Very quick and quiet decision. No justification and no operational requirement for their use. And no stated operational need by the Navy for such subs. In fact, to this day, the requirement for subs still puzzles me. Unless.............. a several millions change hands into some Singaporean's Swiss bank account. I hope the German govt probe covers all Thyssen Krupp submarine deals and includes a sweeping audit of the Singapore sale. Then lets see whether these already dirty PAP are dirtier then even I thought.

Criminal probe launched over Israel's submarine deal with ThyssenKrupp

An investigation has begun into allegations of corruption by Prime Minister Netanyahu's lawyer over the submarine deal. Israel ordered three underwater craft, which the military said were too expensive and not needed.

Israel's State Attorney confirmed on Monday the opening of a criminal probe into a procurement contract between Israel's Defense Ministry and German conglomerate ThyssenKrupp.

The deal, to buy three Dolphin submarines worth an estimated 1.4 billion euro ($1.5 billion),has come under public scrutiny since it emerged that Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's own lawyer, David Shimron, who is also his cousin, represents the local agent of ThyssenKrupp.
'Surplus to requirements'
Suspicions of impropriety were heightened when former Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said he was sidelined on the purchase plans - which went forward after he was replaced last year.

Yaalon said he “vigorously opposed” the deal as the three additional subs - in addition to six already on order - were not needed.

Earlier, Israeli media reported that the deal took less than a year to conclude, whereas other military contracts can take several years.
Netanyahu not implicated
The justice ministry on Monday stressed that Netanyahu himself was not a suspect in the case but confirmed that in light of evidence collected by police, a full-fledge investigation was underway.

Some evidence raises suspicions that some of the people involved have committed "crimes pertaining to public corruption," a ministry statement said.

Both Netanyahu and Shimron have denied any impropriety, while the Kiel-based ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems said it has no contractual connection with the lawyer.
Other allegations haunt PM
Netanyahu himself is being investigated separately on suspicion of corruption, reportedly involving receiving gifts from Israeli businessman and Hollywood producer Arnon Milchan.

Several of the German-made submarines have already been delivered to Israel's military
The Israeli premier is also being probed over the suspicion he sought a a secret deal with Amnon Moses, publisher of Israel's top-selling newspaper Yediot Aharonot.
He has said both those allegations are "baseless."
After news of the submarine investigation broke on Monday, Shimron said he would cooperate with investigators and was confident its findings would clear him.
"I am absolutely certain ... that objective, expert officials will find, once and for all, that my actions were faultless and that I acted according to the law and in line with conflict-of-interest arrangements," Shimron said.

[h=1]'Submarines affair' prompts investigations in Israel and Germany[/h]
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Questions over the purchase of German submarines that started with media reports of a potential conflict of interest involving Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's lawyer have mounted in the last 10 days, spurring investigations in two countries.
At one level the issue is straightforward: Israel wanted to replace some of its ageing submarines and maintain its military edge against potential threats like Iran, so it ordered three new submarines, costing $1.5 billion, from Germany's ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, with delivery in about a decade.
The first sign of a hiccup arose when Israeli media pointed out that the intermediary on the deal, Israeli businessman Miki Ganor, had retained Netanyahu's personal lawyer, David Shimron, to act on his behalf in the transaction.
Netanyahu and Shimron have denied any impropriety. Shimron said he never discussed the deal with the prime minister so as to avoid any conflict of interest, and Netanyahu has given his full backing to his lawyer, who is a distant relative.
But ThyssenKrupp now says it was not aware Ganor had engaged anyone else on the deal and is carrying out an internal investigation to establish whether any rules were broken.
"In Israel, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems works exclusively with Mr Ganor as a sales partner," the company said in a statement. "Our sales partners are contractually obligated to consult with ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems before engaging sub-contractors. This has not happened.
"We do what we always do as part of our process: if we get indications of irregularities, we fully check and clarify the facts."
In Israel, the authorities have seen fit to investigate, too. In a statement last week, the Justice Ministry announced that the attorney general had ordered police to look into the submarine contract as well as an agreement for ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems to build four patrol ships for Israel.
[h=3]"Submarine King"[/h]"Following new information received from the police and in view of other developments," the ministry said on Nov. 23, "the attorney general has ordered an investigation to be carried out by police concerning various aspects of the affair."
Shimron has welcomed the inquiry, saying he is confident it will clear him of any conflict of interest.
Ganor, who according to Israel's Channel 10 is set to earn around 10 million euros from the deal, has kept a low profile.
At this stage, there are no indications the contract is in danger of collapsing or that it is going to have political fallout for Netanyahu, who is nearly two years into his fourth term as prime minister.
But Israeli transparency advocates want a clear and thorough public inquiry to put everyone's mind to rest, especially when it comes to the 2009 decision to appoint Ganor as intermediary, replacing a retired brigadier general who handled all previous deals with Germany and was dubbed "Submarine King".
And they also want to understand why ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems was given the contract to build the four patrol vessels, which will police Israel's offshore gas facilities, rather than the Ministry of Defence issuing a tender.
"This is a really big deal, worth billions of shekels," said Maozia Segal, chairman of Ometz, a group that campaigns for clean government and has handed authorities allegations of corruption in the past, leading to investigations.
"If it's fishy, it should be checked. We don't know who knew what and when and why certain decisions were taken. There are serious concerns, and they deserve a national inquiry."

Very unusual. The Germans and the French are not known for bribing anyone. Thats the reason why there are no anti bribery legislation in France and Germany unlike the US and UK. I have spoken to a few Germans here and they do not appear to be the bribing type. It happening in the submarine sector is even more puzzling. Singapore operates on a model where decision makers do not scum to bribes. The Singapore model has not been adopted elsewhere as others do not appreciate how it works. Much of financial component is not for work competency or experience but serves to deter bribes or at least provides a high threshold before one scums to temptation. The above expose will certainly open eyes.

RSAF have even more F-15SGs for National Day. You happy?

***

Singapore, which is very secretive regarding its military, has also not disclosed the number of F-15SGs it has acquired, although a count of the airframes seen so far would indicate that it has 40 aircraft if these latest eight are included.

The F-15SG is one of the most advanced F-15 models currently in service, being equipped with the Raytheon AN/APG-63(v)3 active electronically scanned array radar and Lockheed Martin’s Sniper targeting pod.

Singapore also flies 60 Lockheed Martin F-16C/D Block 52 fighters that are currently being upgraded with AESA radars and new mission computers, and is a partner in the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program, although it has not committed to any orders.

[h=1]Corruption in Taiwan: The French connection[/h]
TAIPEI, Taiwan — His body was found bobbing in the surf off Taiwan's east coast in 1993.

To this day, no one is sure exactly how or why Navy Captain Yin Ching-feng died.
But many here have long suspected he was murdered because he was about to blow the whistle on massive corruption in a $2.8-billion deal that sold six Lafayette-class French frigates to Taiwan.
The "Lafayette Affair" has dragged on for nearly two decades and has involved at least eight bizarre deaths, multiple court cases, hundreds of millions in frozen Swiss bank accounts and high-level government probes in both Taiwan and France that have reached deep into the corridors of power.
"The scandal was perhaps one of the biggest arms corruption cases in modern history, with literally bags of money of being traded back and forth between China, Taiwan and France," said Wendell Minnick, Asia bureau chief for Defense News.

[h=5]Introduction[/h] The EUR 1.2 billion sale of French ‘Scorpène’ submarines to Malaysia in 2002, and the dubious commissions which accompanied the sale, might have gone unnoticed were it not for the kidnap and murder of a young translator in 2006. The victim, who had worked for a key agent on the deal, was targeted when she attempted to get her share of the commissions. The subsequent murder trial implicated members of the domestic police’s special intelligence branch, who may have served the defense minister and future prime minister Najib Razak as bodyguards.
With investigations in Malaysia stymied by the political implications, momentum shifted to France. DCNS, the French shipbuilding company, was raided in 2010, and it eventually became clear that the company was under scrutiny for operating a chain of intermediaries to bribe Razak and the agent, Abdul Razak Baginda, in violation of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Convention on Bribery and its corresponding law in France.

Nicolas Sarkozy's battle for re-election has been overshadowed by a major corruption scandal after two of his closest friends were charged by judges investigating alleged kickbacks on arms sales to Pakistan.
The investigation, known as the "Karachi affair", is the biggest French corruption scandal since the second world war, Sarkozy's political opponents said.
It is a potentially murderous saga of alleged illegal party funding, suitcases stuffed with banknotes, rightwing political rivalry and, ultimately, the deaths of 15 people in a bomb attack in Pakistan.
Nicolas Bazire, one of Sarkozy's closest friends and best man at his wedding to Carla Bruni in 2008, was charged on Thursday with misuse of public funds. He is suspected of taking kickbacks from the sale of submarines to Pakistan in the 1990s. Bazire, a former political aide who is now a director of French luxury goods group LVMH, was detained by police and his home and office were searched.

Old Man also hosted the wife in the Istana guesthouse. Imagine the wife of a mass murder staying on the grounds of the Istana and she was known to be equally ruthless.

Let me try again. What you have cited are extremely rare. The arms industry is one of the cleanest sectors in the free trade world. Second only to the pharmaceutical and charity NGO sectors. The French and German as a culture are known for their responsibility to mankind. They unlike the Brits, the Dutch and the Portuguese never beyond the borders or caused harm to anyone. In fact George Orwell modelled his book Animal Farm based on a German farm and the original novel was written in French. So the German and French bribing anyone is going against their dna and very unlikely.

As usual, talking shit thru your mouth. Belong is just a small segment of French arms sales bribery, I haven't even included the Germans yet.

no corruption and bribery in arms industry i worry. it's part of the business. all lobbyists in d.c. from general dynamics to lockheed to boeing to northrop are multi-millionaires from commissions, "marketing expense" kickbacks, and hefty allowances.

this notorious case which has expanded to include a navy admiral and 7 others involves a sinkie defense contractor specializing in "servicing" usn ships and clearing shit (since usn ships are forbidden from dumping shit in the oceans). but when a contractor dumps shit in the seas, it's don't ask don't tell. but the bribes go beyond just "don't ask, don't tell".

same case but it got worse. it has also exposed how easy it is to steal military secrets.

this article exposing greek and german corruption in the defense industry is very shiok to read. writer has the knack and gift for funny puns, sarcasm and satire.

http://wolfstreet.com/2013/12/30/leaked-confession-cesspool-of-greek-german-corruption-2/

Apparently, it has been impossible to sell Greece any weapons at all, not even a water pistol, without bribing officials at the Defense Ministry. Corruption is so pandemic that Transparency International awarded Greece once again the dubious honor of being the most corrupt country in the EU. For 2013, Greece ended up in 80th place of the 177 countries in the survey, same as China. But it takes two to tango.

And in holier-than-thou Germany, where exporting at any price is a state religion (with chart) regardless of who runs the show, the defense industry was allegedly eager to dance with Greece – supplying tanks, submarines, and other equipment that broke Greece didn’t need and couldn’t afford and that pushed it deeper into the hole.

Now there’s a confession. After four days of grilling, investigating magistrates in Athens extracted it from Antonios Kantas, General Secretary for Procurement at the Defense Ministry between 1996 and 2002. He’d been arrested in mid-December after authorities found nearly €14 million in various accounts. In his 30-page testimony, elements of which have been leaked, he admitted having pocketed €15 million in bribes since 1989 – just this one guy!

so, who's the moron who says there's no anti-bribery and anti-corruption law in germany?

http://www.anticorruptionblog.com/g...bery-and-anti-corruption-law-an-introduction/

Legal Framework

Most of the German anti-bribery and corruption provisions are laid down in Sections 331-338 (bribery in public office), 299-302 (bribery in commercial business transactions) and 108b-198e (electoral bribery) of the German Criminal Code (Strafgesetzbuch, “StGB”). The anti-bribing and corruption practices involving EU and other foreign public officials and judges are penalized by the European Union Anti-Corruption Act (EU-Bestechungsgesetz, “EUBestG”) and the Act of Combating International Bribery (Gesetz zur Bekämpfung internationaler Bestechung, “IntBestG”) respectively.

bonjour, who's the moron again who says there's no anti-bribery and anti-corruption law in france?

https://globalcompliancenews.com/new-french-anti-corruption-law-20161123/

After considerable debate, France adopted its new Law on Transparency, the Fight against Corruption and Modernization of Economic Life, on November 8, 2016 (the “Law”). This Law represents a reaction to international pressure brought to bear against the French government for its perceived laissez-faire enforcement towards corruption, and a response to severe sanctions imposed by the U.S. Department of Justice (“DOJ”) on French companies in recent years. The French Minister of Finance, Michel Sapin (after whom the Law has been nicknamed the “Sapin II” Law), has indicated that the adoption of the Law will bring France’s anti-corruption regime up to the highest European and international standards in its fight against corruption.

Look at post #10. Screwedballs said don't have means don't have lah. Arms industry Very clean industry according to him. Bringing up all these examples of corruption will be like water off a duck's back. It does not suit the moron's narrative, ok?

post #10 is a weak attempt at sarcasm, but it's an epic fail. post #3 tries to butter your butts with extra virgin olive oil, but i believe you prefer lube. a yahoo search (no google search for me as in so doing they will reverse the role and search you from your sleep patterns to surf behavior to scratching of genitals) on french and german anti-bribery laws will easily yield legislative results and updates. either he knows and blatantly spreads fake news or he's too lazy to fact-check as speed of reply to you has becum an obsession. just don't forget he doesn't like to play second fiddle on this site. he's trying to take you down as the reigning alpha male. such bitchiness. woohoo!
