SINGAPORE - A 57-year-old man, who went missing last Thursday (July 6) after going to pick durians, was found in a forested area along Kranji Expressway on Monday at noon, four days after the police put up a missing person notice.

Mr Low Ah Kay was last seen at Block 498, Jurong West Street 41 at about 8.30am on July 6, the police previously said in their appeal for information.

He was last seen wearing an off-white coloured shirt, long pants and yellow boots.

Mr Low is believed to have gone to a forested area in Jurong on his motorcycle to pick durians, Lianhe Wanbao reported on Monday.

After he went missing, the police and his family searched for him. His daughter Samantha told citizen journalism site Stomp in a report on Saturday that her father had mild dementia and had suffered a stroke in the past.

His family and friends continued their search on Sunday at a forested area along Jurong Road, Wanbao said.

There were at least five police vehicles when Wanbao arrived at the scene on Sunday night. Police officers were seen leading dogs on the search.

Ten of Mr Low's friends and family were waiting outside the brush for news. The Straits Times understands that the police search went on for 12 hours, beginning on Sunday from 4pm and ending on Monday at 4am.

Operations resumed at 9am, and the police on Monday said in a statement that Mr Low was found at about 12pm that day.

ST understands that Mr Low was taken semi-conscious to Ng Teng Fong Hospital.

now still got M113aka APC?

before my MR in late 2000s, even the pioneer platoon and medic trade in their M113 to Bronco liao.

I'm surprised that a person who had "mild" dementia and had suffered a stroke is allowed by his family to ride a motorcycle .

I'm more interested in any follow up to the 2016 news about the Bronco i.e any new sales besides UK?

•The ST Kinetics Warthog has been retired from British Army service
•The move is a U-turn on previous plans to keep the vehicle in service
The British Army has retired is ST Kinetics Warthog articulated tracked armoured vehicles from service, IHS Jane's can reveal. In total, 115 Warthogs (an improved version of the ST Kinetics Bronco) were purchased by the United Kingdom... for use in Afghanistan ...In December 2013 the MoD announced that 100 Warthogs would be brought into the 'core' equipment budget.....for operations in Afghanistan.....speaking to IHS Jane's on 10 March, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) stated that this decision had been reversed, with Warthog instead having been retired from service in October 2015.In a statement the MoD said: "Warthog was delivered in 2010 to replace Viking and was designed specifically for use in Afghanistan. A number of protected mobility vehicles have been brought into core; it was decided that the capability required from Warthog could be delivered by other vehicles, therefore Warthog was withdrawn from service in 2015......

Very short operational/active service lifespan compared to the M113 (first fielded by the US in Vietnam in 1962) and still in use until now by some armed forces or even the Commando (V200 is SAF version)which was first deployed by US in 1963 and with some variations even surviving now as MP/IS/SWAT vehicles

Bronco dont offer much protection against IED. SAF only use it for logistic, ambulance, mortar platform...ie.. operate at the rear. The only vocation that use the bronco that do go to the "front" are the pioneers. Even them are behind the combat companies, only move forward for laying bridge AFTER the opposite banks are secured by riflemen.

saw on BBC documentary that the UK used bronco/warthog as troops carrier in patrol which imo was very brave.

UK order 200+ BAE BvS10 which is more light weighted and most important provide jobs to defense contractor as one of the reason why Warthog withdrawn from service in 2015
