A Brisbane academic has been rebuked for describing Islam as a cancer in the aftermath of the United Kingdom's third terrorist attack in less than three months.
Queensland University of Technology journalism professor Brian McNair expressed his views on Islam after three jihadi terrorists killed seven people in central London on Saturday night.
'Enough! Islam is a cancer on the planet. It must be destroyed or reformed. Soon. Zero tolerance,' he tweeted late on Sunday.

Professor NcNair's five tweets about Islam and the most recent terrorist attack in the United Kingdom have earned him a rebuke from QUT.
'QUT does not endorse or condone these personal comments. These views do not reflect those of the university,' a spokesman Robert Kidd told Daily Mail Australia on Monday.
However it is unclear if Professor McNair, who is also a critic of U.S. President Donald Trump, has been sanctioned for expressing his opinion.
Like President Trump, Professor McNair argued there was a direct link between terrorism and Islam when it came to migration.

'Muslims are not the problem. Migrants are not the problem. The problem is Islam and what it inspires people to do,' he said.
He went further and described Islam as a religion that promoted hatred against Jews, woman and gay people.
'Islam is not a 'religion on peace'. It is a religion of hate, misogyny, homophobia and antisemitism. How to defeat it?,' he said.
