At the centre of the Feud between the Lee siblings is the former home of Lee Kuan Yew, 38 Oxley Road. On side wants the house demolished as per the wishes of their father. The other party wants the house preserved for historic reasons. Perhaps a compromise can be achieved based on way the house is demolished, one that is acceptable to both.

By demolishing, I am assuming that the existing physical structure will be removed from the land and a bare land left with no house or any structure on it. The land can be then sold off and proceeds be given to charities as per one of the agreements between the 2 brothers. If the removal of any physical structure on the land is the main goal here, this can be achieved by an organized brick by brick demolition of the house. In other parts of the world, its not unusual to see this. The entire house is deconstructed and removed from the existing site and then re-assembled in another location, exactly as it was in the original location. Much of the house is made of bricks. there are many experts in other countries familiar with how to so this. The house will be the same with the original materials and everything else intact.

Currently, if the Prime Minister prevails and the house is turned into some sort of historic site, the Oxley road location is a terrible place to access for members of the public planning to visit it. Oxley at that part is narrow and a 2 lane road. Imagine tour buses and hordes of visitors going to the house. There will be gridlocked traffic and the neighbours will be very unhappy and not be able to access their own house. Its much better for the govt to buy a piece of land in a more accessible location, near to a MRT station and to other sites of historical location, and re-assemble the house on that site. The removal of the entire house from Oxley might placate the PM's siblings. It may not address the issue of using the house as a monument to LKY, but for all intends and purposes, the house is gone from 38 Oxely, which is what they wanted in the first place. And in exchange, the govt has the exact same house in a new more amenable location.

Perhaps this suggestion is an acceptable compromise to all parties. just my 2 cents.

[h=1]Brick by brick, couple move Georgian manor house 30 miles away[/h] [h=2]Husband and wife dismantle 18th Century property in Wiltshire before moving it to Gloucestershire as they cannot find anywhere as good to live[/h]
house-rebuit_3345882b.jpg

A Georgian manor house has been put up for sale for £3.75 million - after being dismantled brick by brick and rebuilt in a different county.

The 18th Century Old Manor was transported 30 miles from Wiltshire to Gloucestershire after owners Sarah Howard and husband Adam were gazumped when they tried to move.

They knew the type of house they wanted and exactly the area to live in, but the right property was not available.

So the couple bought a plot of land and had their manor house in Calne, Wiltshire, deconstructed and then moved across the border to Uley, Gloucestershire, to be rebuilt.

It's tragic that a guy with the intellect, legal background and foresight of old lee left a will(s) that is so vulnerable to attack and misinterpretation.

U are not looking at the circumstances before his death. He had Parkinson's for at least 3 years prior to his death. He could have had dementia or some serious cognitive decline. Hence his judgement towards the end of his life his questionable. this explains why his last will is differently prepared by another lawyer, and why he had to change and amend his wills and create 7 different wills in 5 years.

hahahha. since PAP want the LKY house so badly they likewise ahould dismantle the house plank by plank and rebuilt it at the istana and give the land back to LHY. everybody happy. For LHY and LWL house was demolished acc to pa wishes. for the pap they have their wish to preserve the house of historical value . best solution. case closed.

Truly a brilliant idea. I wasn't aware that you could move a house brick by brick in this manner and I am sure the 3 siblings who are all President's scholars and their parents who both scored 1st Class in Cambridge were also not aware of such an option. I am sure this is exactly what the Old Man would have wanted- his house moved to a location where access by tourists and visitors does not cause an issue to residents. The MRT proximity location is also another good idea. If you think about it it is not exactly rocket science and has actually been done before for instance for the Singapore Airshow where congestions has been eliminated due to the choice of location. If done well, it could also be the site for the annual NDP. The real driver and the enabler is the ability to remove brick by brick. The only addition that I would suggest that the rebuilt house should be treated like a home for the sense of reality with nothing changed. Might be good to ask one of the grandsons to reside there. I seriously do not see the govt or the siblings objecting to this.

Try my idea. Bulldose all neighbours and turn Oxley rd into a theme park.

Link the park w Istana and also renovate Istana into old fart office he used as office and residence.

This is a big project that will benefit many porlumpar contractors.

Old Lee said demolish, not re-locate.

if they demolished it and built a replica elsewhere Im sure his soul wouldn't object.

I think relocate to Geylang should be the best, hang red light on the entrance is perfect. MeiMeis fucking sinkie customers in Old Fart's bedroom will evoke memories for Gay Loong when he spied on his parents fucking in their bedroom.

It will be covered in red dust in no time

what previously was hill 265 (269 to me when it was higher). no enshrinement nor memorial there. kena leveled for future development. perhaps they can move 38or there and surround it with 38sce avlb and cev tanks.

I don't think lky is not aware that his will is controversial. The most logical guess is that he wanted the house demolished but his wife wanted it be given to lhl. He didn't have the heart to remove the wife's wish from the will. So he left it inside hoping that it will be demolished and rebuilt as hinted in his email to hc. The siblings proposed to demolished and create a park on the land - so it is not about money as alluded by many. However this option is not acceptable to lhl. TCH proposed to keep a part, built a heritage centre nearby and link to it. And this is acceptable to lhl. I thought these info has made it crystal-clear what is going on.

TS idea is great that he found common ground. You got to admit the brick by brick is a real brainer. JB however is not suggested in view of the known festive holiday congestions and peak hour traffic. Unless the grandson is prepared to ride a bike to commute. Also if Khaw's idea comes to fruition and there is a sizeable community living in old folks home. They would be the target audience as the old man shaped that generation.

Relocate to where? JB? LOL!

Maybe reassemble it in Sentosa, next to the casino, then all gamblers can pray at the house of the God of wealth, Kuan Yu, before they enter casino
