Multifaceted issue- the education system in the 60s through 70s churned out tonnes of conformists. The accumulation of wealth occured during the 80s, we were in the golden period in the 90s, and all of these successes culminated in the pride of the Sinkies. The HDBs eroded the kampong spirit, large families became nucleated small units. Further reduction of human to human interactions due to the population policy of the late 60s resulted in lower EQ, folks found it more important to keep to a small family unit to sustain the same standards of living.
Forward to current state: we're fucked.

Kampong spirit is not unique to Singapore. Most countries have that 'same village/small town' helpful nature too. That 'kampong' spirit is simply eroded away by urbanization. Housing in most urban places are meant for small families, not large ones like in the countryside. Shitty housing or urban slums happen when you have too many people living in apartments meant for much smaller families.

Accumulation of wealth by the masses could only happen due to good policies of the PAP. Granted not everyone benefits, but enough people did. And that is what stable rich democracies do. Policies are passed to benefit the vast majority in actual terms.

With the high costs of living, majority of the middle class Sinkies are finding it tougher to stay afloat. Look at the population growth over the last two decades. Import more FTs to bolster the figures?

Bro, this is the generation that sucked on Old Man's sauce of good life. Road and bridges were built, kampungs upgraded to flats complete with utilities and world class sanitation, buildings erected, factories went into full steam, schools progressed, cars became affordable. Malaysians left in the dust, our currency appreciated. He also milked the communist threat to the hilt. They may go to church, mosques and temples, but they know of one god. He could do no wrong.

Even when they had second thoughts, the son began to bribe the with cash into their account on nomination day and then the pioneer package.

These are twits that will drag the next generation into the mud.

My recent experiences with some young sinkies at work have restored some of my faith in the next generation. Many have grown up with the internet and have a more worldly view.

At home the "silent majority" on social media had traditionally been the pro establishment. I think the trend has been reversing.

If the Lee hsien loong keeps up his standard of (under-) performance... And the opposition is given more time to rejuvenate....

The next GE would be an interesting one.

Kampung spirit is different from kampung thinking or kampung Kia. Guess which one is predominant now?

It is well known that young elephant when chained to metal rod firmly stuck to the ground will not attempt to break free even when it is full grown but chained to only a stick. Experiment had been conducted to find out if such elephant will try to break free when its life is threatened like a setting a fire to the surrounding. Yes they do break free when there is fire. However, for Singaporean, it will be too late to know how to break free when the place is on fire. Sad.

Go round the Hawker centres and it's quite common to see pictures of these morons taken with Prata man, LKY, gct, Pinky etc. Wonder what thrill these guys get hanging such photos. Have you spotted one taken with their parents?

I agree. They also know it that is why the easy pathway to acquire Singapore citizenship by foreigners with little or not talent but on the strength of their employment pass given. The tenure is only 2 years. The new citizens and pioneer generations are their captive. So a store supervisor from the Philippines with 2 years is eligible for one. Does not even require degree or a trade or skill certificate which is common amongst other countries.

The good foreigners with talent and the credentials / qualifications will bide their time and apply to 1st world countries.

As long as SPH/Medicorp is controlled by PAP, twits can never be smart.
    List of my boycott establishments:-

    Tung Lok
    Breadtalk/Toast Box
    Jollibee
Citibank (who employed more than 40% foreigners)
    La Fonde restuarant
...will add on to the blacklist as deemed necessary for patriotic reason.
