No 49 Cluny Hill, a double storey bungalow standing on 45,000 sq ft of freehold land
After ah lao stepped down he was suppose to move into 49 Cluny Hill ...
I can't seem to see any "49" in the entire "Cluny" (not just Cluny Hill) area on the map:
onemap.sg/?LW:q&wO5d:Jfhfq_J,IIqqq_Y,JaJYq_b,IIhJc_f,c
whereas "38 Oxley Road" can be seen.
Are you sure it's "49"?

... and that was why the approach road to Cluny Hill was converted to a one way street for security.

Before the conversion, one could drive from Bukit Timah Rd to Napier Rd via Cluny Rd.
You mean that is no longer possible?

During my childhood from the early 1980s to the mid 1990s, I used to live very near Botanic Gardens and I remember my father driving along both Cluny Road and Cluny Park Road.

I think the original intention was to give LWL the clunky house for her to live till she mati. But she prefer Oxley. Then later old man reluctantly insert this clause to let her stay there forever.

The building at Oxley is worthless. It is the land that is of value. I think by now the property has been sold to LHY.

That means 38 Oxley bequeathed to Pinky subject to a life interest granted in favour of Gollum ?

It's odd to bequeath a real property to someone and then with the condition to demolish. Then there has to be a "timing". Otherwise, Pinky can say he will inherit the property but will postpone the date of demolition indefinitely.

According to LHL, it seems to have happened over a year ago:
facebook.com/notes/lee-hsien-loong/summary-of-statutory-declarations/1507498539312847

"36. After the General Elections, LWL and LHY agreed to my fresh proposal to transfer 38 Oxley Road to LHY at market value, on condition that LHY and I each donated an amount equivalent to half of that value to charity, to pre-empt any future controversy over compensation or redevelopment proceeds. I was prepared to transfer 38 Oxley Road to LHY so that he and LWL could handle the 38 Oxley Road matter as they saw fit between them. In accordance with our agreement, I donated half of the value of 38 Oxley Road to charity. Although not required under the agreement, I also donated a sum equivalent to the other half of the value of 38 Oxley Road to charity. 38 Oxley Road now wholly belongs to LHY."

Heard the Hongyi completely bochap about politics, totally immersed with his small team on data science and considered to be team player and people person. Based out of the fusionpolis. The guy is 30 years old but mother and father have different plans.

Vested interest plus Teo and the parents have pull together a plan to create a new ministry and all the elements are there. As of April, all identified departments from MOF and MCI had to give up staff and even policy remit to this ministry including one complete stat board all under the new Smart Nation initiative. All are now within PMO including the son. A PS has been named and is one of the Ng brothers. Vivian I understand oversees the area where the son is.

This new Ministry is expected to be launched before the next GE. Plan is for the son to complete bond to join a well known MNC - bet is on Amazon or Google.

So the parents have slightly over 3 years to work on him. Alternatively he will drop in like Teo Chee Hean did after GE with CV showing working with MNC at a senior level.

By the way, his immediate superior has a major conduct/criminal issue with a past employer that I don't think Govt is aware of and or had not done their vetting properly. And this bozo is the Country's Chief Information Officer.

In the early 80's pondang Loong also said that he wasn't interested in politics, but he was quick to change his mind when wooden Goh invited him to join the party.

Alfian Saat has tonnes of material to work on for his next script.... Teehee...
In my opinion, even more fun and funny would be a "Referendum":
sammyboy.com/showthread.php?244368-Will there be a Referendum for 38 Oxley Road?
It would be Singapore's first since the last, and only, one so far:
wikipedia.org/wiki/Singaporean_integration_referendum,_1962
wikipedia.org/wiki/Elections_in_Singapore#Referendums
("A referendum may also be held for important national issues, although it has been held only once in Singapore's political history for the 1962 merger referendum. Calls for a national referendum has been made since then, including the issue over the building of casinos in Singapore.")
:p

Is this the reason why PS21 is dissolved altogether? I guess LSG must have his knickers in a twist...

3 events took place - bringing all these things in focus. The elements of a new ministry held for the moment in PMO and the son is now under PMO. The appointments of Teo Chee Hean and Ng Chee Khern, formerly of SID and finally the appointment of Lucien and Hri Kumar. The common threads of personal and political connections are apparent. I think the younger siblings connected the dots and interpreted it as threat and the Brother and sister in law agenda.

The appointment of Lucien is a serious black mark on this PM and now that the cat is out of bag his moral standing or what that is left is all gone. It also reflects poorly on Lucien for accepting the position and I am sure Hri Kumar must now realise the purpose the post of Deputg AG was created was not based on sound judgement but tainted.

Is this the reason why PS21 is dissolved altogether? I guess LSG must have his knickers in a twist...

Took a look at your map and no 17 used to be no 49.

Addresses have been changed because the late Mr Chan U Seek who owned no 1 Cluny Hill which had a land area
of around 250,000 sq ft had subdivided his land into 1, 3, 5, 5a, 7, 7a, 9 & 9a.

15, 17 & 19 were one plot owned by Straits Steamship and architect Heah bought it and subdivided into 3 plots.
