Down the road there will articles like the above talking similar issues about 99 year leasehold private condos. Mark my words.

Mark what words? How many percent of sinkies live in 99 year private leasehold condos? Less then 5%? how many % live in HDB flats? 80%? The people who bought 99 year private leaseholds knew exactly what they were buying. They knew they had to get out in 99 years. The people who leased HDB flats were told to their face that they own it. It was a blatant lie. Because so few sinkies are actually living in 99 year private leasehold, whatever issues you think they have pale incomparison to HDB flat dwellers.

Technically there are no public ownership of any HDB flats other than the state.

"Owners" are just bona fide long term lessees...made to pay property tax for something they do not own.
