This is what happens when the PAP and the Government manipulates the institutions of the country to retain power over 5 decades. Demonising genuine opposition figures, crippling critics who are concerned about the country, stifling the media and bankrupting political rivals. Perceptions, opinions and views are formed both locally and abroad. And they are hard to erase.

And just watch, the 30 over Christians who made Police reports against Amos that led to the first case and the Muslims in Singapore will not come to the defence of the Government. They will get th usual porlumpars from grassroots to throw in comments supporting the govt's case.

Now they look silly because the locals and the wider world think they persecuted a 16 year old kid. They deserved it. And they only have themselves to blame.

it's most hypocritical of MIW to criticize and undermine america's judiciary for their decision when they lay claims to contempt of court if it happens in sinkieland.

There is accuracy and TRUTH in the Judge Samuel B. Cole's decision since I recall that it was by knife edge decision that Amos avoided 2yrs of reformative training with no chance for parole http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/amos-yee-should-be-sent/1874696.html (lock up without computer for 2 yrs + foot drill lessons maybe daily even: I.e.: treatment more aligned to the BRAINWASHING (disciplinary) approach to drug addicts)... Would be embarrassing for the SG ambassador or legal team to dispute this fact which was clearly published in Singapore state news.

Fortunately, iirc, the Singapore judge disagreed with the DPP and released Amos from remand which had been converted to jail time considered served.

Lucky USA is free from the illegal and corrupt PAP mafia in Singapore (illegal + corrupt because they created the GRC system of elections primarily to admit yesmen rubber stamping PAP supporters into parliament ("fix the opposition"), with minority racial representation reason more so a subterfuge):

(YouTube; LHL: "fix the opposition")

'Without some assurance of a good chance of winning at least their first election, many able and successful young Singaporeans may not risk their careers to join politics,' Mr Goh Chok Tong, June 2006 ['GRCs make it easier to find top talent: SM'].

Coat-tail rubber stamping MPs earning their keep by researching every possible reason(excuse) to increase PAP leader's salaries:
"If the annual salary of the Minister of Information, Communication and Arts is only $500,000, it may pose some problems when he discuss policies with media CEOs who earn millions of dollars because they need not listen to the minister's ideas and proposals. Hence, a reasonable payout will help to maintain a bit of dignity."

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security actively opposed Yee's application for asylum, claiming that the Singapore government legitimately prosecuted Yee under laws of general applicability.

Judge Cole disagreed. In his 13-page written decision, Judge Cole stated that "it is clear" that the Singapore government's criminal prosecution of Yee for "wounding religious feelings" and "obscenity" was "just a pretext to silence his opinions." He stated that the political persecution was a criminal prosecution by the Singapore government and was therefore inflicted by the government.

This statement from the judge is dedicated to our AGC and Bench.

One interesting thing about Amos Yee is in all his flaming and bashing video clips, he bashed Christians, Muslims, PAP, LKY, SDP, Chee Soon Juan, CNY, Singapore, America etc etc, almost every different segment of people he also bash, BUT he has NEVER criticized or bashed PRCs in any of his video clips, NOT EVEN once.

Maybe Amos Yee is PRO-PRCs

+1..........

Let's see what our ambassador and foreign minister has to say. Amos isn't a likeable guy and he will get into more trouble there unless he learns fast. But it is evident the paranoia in Singapore is toxic and will lead to more debacles like this.

I am sure the Govt realises that it is not about Amos. Its more about Amos the convenient vehicle that their long time detractors have chosen to give this govt the black eye they deserve. Amnesty International, KJ and company took their chance and won.

I do agree that Amos will land himself in trouble if he does not change his ways. But he is wily - collecting donations for legal fight but not paying lawyers, not once but twice etc. I am sure he will do the same in the land of milk and honey and more gullible people. He even outdid our renegade ex law scholar turned porn star.

What however will disappoint some Singaporeans is that they will eventually find that Amos is not interested in politics. And I am not sure why they even thought that.

If this government was smart, it will change it ways. Sending a kid at 17 to jail for non violent first offence only makes itself looking stupid. But sadly power and looking after their own interest is more important.

He is likeable in the eyes of real human beings, unlike you.
