How come when Amos goes on a blog and talks shit about Islam, he gets arrested, all his stuff gets confiscated, and he goes to court and gets jailed. But when an Iman stands infront of hundreds of his congregation talks shit about Jews and Christians, Minister Shan defends the Iman. Pretty shitty if you ask me.

SINGAPORE: In the wake of strong sentiments over a video posted on social media of an imam who made remarks purportedly against Christians and Jews, Minister for Home Affairs K Shanmugam on Saturday (Mar 4) said he is "very heartened" that the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) and Muslim leaders have come out to state their position.
Following Mr Shanmugam's speech in Parliament on Friday on the need for firm action against religious preaching that encourages violence or pits one religion against one another, MUIS said: "MUIS appreciates and fully supports the Government’s firm and consistent position in the matter. MUIS shares the view that there can be no room for discourse that promotes intolerance, enmity or violence against other communities."

"The statements show clearly that the Muslim community strongly values our commitment to religious harmony in Singapore," Mr Shanmugam said, in a statement posted on Facebook on Saturday evening.
He added that MUIS and the office of the Mufti are important institutions in Singapore, as they play a "critical role in contributing to the maintenance of religious harmony, as well as building inter-faith relations with other religious groups".
"Regrettably some people have been attacking them – both now and previously. The Mufti himself has been attacked, in rude and unacceptable language," Mr Shanmugam said.
He added that members of the public should not use "rude and abusive language" even if they may not agree with the Mufti or Islamic authorities. "I find that very saddening - kurang ajar (ill-mannered)."
"We are keeping a close watch on people who do these things. If the conduct crosses over and becomes criminal, action will be taken," he said.
The minister said police will investigate the case "thoroughly" and interview all parties involved, including those who filmed and publicised the video.
"Whether there is a case for further action against any of the parties, will depend on the outcome of investigations," he said, adding that the Government does not take sides in the issue.

He also echoed Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Yaacob Ibrahim's position, saying the right thing to do when it comes to matters like these is to report it to the police, and not put it on social media.
"That will allow police to focus their investigations on the subject of the complaint," he said. "If instead, the matter is publicly posted, it could lead to a ground swell of feelings, in this case, both from Muslims as well as non-Muslims. It could cause confusion about religion, and increase tensions and so on. We don't want that in Singapore."

We will be constantly attacking the Wankers' Party for their incompetence in running a town council. Perhaps they should start with running a kid's lemonade stand first.

There is already a concern going on why the usual intelligence monitoring of mosques has failed in this instance. Whoever is in charge of this mosque is going to face the music if there is no prior intelligence submitted on this chap as he has done it once before.

It also shows that Malay / Indian Muslims attending these sessions are not matured enough to report this and it took a Eurasian convert to report it. So after 50 years, the trust with the Malay / Indian Muslim population is a major concern.

The NUS lecturer should be removed from his post and sent home. His veiled threat is beyond the pale. A clear message should be sent out.

These things should be done in a speedy manner as there are videos and blog entries so i is not a question of what someone is supposed to have said. I am sure they going to send the Indian chap back to India.

Re: PAP Double standard on religion, what is the WP and other oppo waiting for? ATTAC

Notice the Prostitute Press assiduously avoiding revealing the name of the Iman.

Apparently, he is an Arab speaking cleric and this sermon was made at the Chulia Mosque. PAP letting in radicalized clerics to preach here? And MUIS acting the gong chee bye and pretend they don't know. Apparently, the video of him was shot on the second day he spoke. The MUFTI was also acting like gong chee bye. No malay muslims report this at all to the authorities, the whistle blower is a Eurasian who converted to Islam.

This is a video, from the 6th January 2017, of the imam at Jami' Chulia Mosque cursing Christians and Jews. This was during the Friday khuthbah. He did it again today.
In summary, he said, "God Grant us victory over the disbelievers, God Grant us victory over the polytheists, God Grant us victory over the hypocrites and the people of envy, God Grant us victory over the Jews and the Christians, God Grant us victory over the Jews and the Christians ..." The last part was repeated twice as an emphasis.
This is 2017, and we still have unlettered people leading prayers in the mosque and supplicating as if we are all living in the Crusades and there is a huge religious war. How is this acceptable in the context of Singapore? It is only because he said it in Arabic that most people in the congregation likely did not realise.

Mr Terence Hekiaon Nunis, the contributor of the video confirmed in an online interview that this was not the only time he heard such supplications made in the mosque and reaffirmed that everything he wrote was factual.
"It should be noted, also, that this was not a solitary occurrence. It was first noted on the 17th January and then again, on the day I posted this.

Some people went there for Friday prayers. At the end of the sermon, this is what was recited as a supplication. The first few lines are innocuous and paraphrased from the Qur'anic supplication. The last part about overcoming the Jews and Christians is his own, or likely, taken from some similar supplication elsewhere, and is not from Scripture.

The word used is "fanswurna" which I have translated as "grant victory over", but more accurately means, "to overcome". Translating from Arabic to English is not always easy because there are words which have no direct translation without losing the flavour of the meaning.
In this case, the flavour is far from benign and the implicit meaning is more than just being better than them, the Christians and Jews, but to dominate them."

There is and has always been a double standard for muslims versus Christians. If there was a radical priest saying things about the muslim religion in katong Church, the ISD will be all over it tomorrow. But malays seem to get away with it. Shan coming out to defend this action is ridiculous. They are all scared of offending the malays and indirectly big neighbour in the north.

According to Yourcock, many muslims were angry that the video was posted. why? Do they condone it?

Yaacob calls for calm, unity amid probe into imam's remarks

yaacob-ibrahim-2.jpg

File photo of Dr Yaacob Ibrahim SINGAPORE: Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Yaacob Ibrahim on Saturday (Mar 4) called for peace and unity in the Muslim community after a "storm" of emotions was whipped up over a video of an imam making remarks purportedly against Christians and Jews. The imam is under police investigation for the incident.
It came to light after a video was posted to Facebook, showing the imam making the remarks during one of his Friday sermons in January. The video has sparked heated debate - with some criticising the poster for uploading the video after tipping off authorities, and others praising him for his actions.
In a Facebook post, Dr Yaacob said the issue has generated many reactions both online and offline, and urged members of the public to take a step back and reflect.
He said while it is "correct to whistle blow when one sees wrongdoing, one must also ask whether the manner in which it is carried out is appropriate".

"On such sensitive matters it would be better to go to the authorities in the first instance, rather than online."
He added: "Let us leave this case in the good hands of our police."
In the wake of the incident, Mufti Fatris Bakaram had said in a statement posted to Facebook that the debates surrounding the issue had made him "concerned and uncomfortable".
In a post on Saturday evening, the mufti elaborated on his decision to take his Facebook page offline. "My words which are generic in nature have been misused to show as if I'm biased in that incident, and that is not my goal," he wrote. "Thus before Maghrib yesterday afternoon, I decided to stay back for a while from Facebook. I intend to return after authorities have completed their investigations regarding this case and notified the public."
He added that speculation around his decision was not true, and his goal was to find peace in the middle of chaos before rejoining the conversation, when the atmosphere permits.
Dr Yaacob's Facebook post is reproduced in full below:
This has been a challenging week for our community. A whistle blower posted a video of an imam praying against the Jews and Christians. It sparked a storm.
There is no space in Singapore for extremism or exclusivism because we uphold values of mutual respect and harmony. We utterly reject any speech or actions that foster ill will between communities. This is the Singapore way.
This issue has generated many emotions both online and offline. Many in our community felt angry, because they believe that the postings could be used to cast aspersions on Islam and the asatizah in our mosques. While I understand these concerns, let us take a step back and reflect. If one of us, a preacher or otherwise, has the crossed the line, he or she must be taken to task. This has been done in other cases involving other religious groups which have crossed the line. There cannot be double standards when we deal with issues that touch on race and religious harmony.
While it is correct to whistle blow when one sees wrongdoing, one must also ask whether the manner in which this is done is appropriate, or if it sows more discord and causes tension in our society. On such sensitive matters it would be better to go to the authorities in the first instance, rather than online.
Minister Shanmugam said in Parliament that Police will investigate the conduct of all involved in this case. MUIS is assisting our Police in their work. Let us leave this case in the good hands of our Police.
Our Mufti Fatris Bakaram himself decided to take his Facebook page offline last night to pause and reflect because he too saw how emotions were being whipped up, and in his wisdom, decided he needed to cool things down. Let us heed his call for peace, and for us all to stay united.

Shan coming out to defend this action is ridiculous. They are all scared of offending the malays and indirectly big neighbour in the north.

I taught my kids that in life, belligerence and aggression is the correct way forward. Easy to deal with radical priests because most christians and catholics today are meek as sheep. They may bleat their complains, but they will do no more than that. They also are taught to idolize martyrs who willingly get killed by the authorities.

Muslims are way more aggressive and in history, they won more battles than they lost. So, the message taught to all Muslims since young is to be pro-active in aggression because most people will back down to them.

I expect MUIS and Yacoob to emerge as heroes in this saga, while the lone imam will remain unidentified and possibly just expelled back to keling-land. This Helikon chap and the m&d professor would be dealt with privately, with Helikon getting it bad because he is a nobody and carries absolutely no clout in the m&d community. The m&d professor will make an apology, perform X hours of community service and gets to move on.

No double standards. Amos offended the gods of Singapore who reside in a higher celestial plane than any other gods. Hence, his punishment must be stiffer to reflect the higher level of offense he committed.

For the safety of the families of non-muslims and yourself, the peaceful imam should be let off with a token warning.

Many in our community felt angry, because they believe that the postings could be used to cast aspersions on Islam and the asatizah in our mosques.

Grassroots feedback say that most muslims are angry over how this helikon chap has affected the peaceful image of Islam. They are much less upset over the hate speech against christians and the jews. Looking at Islamic doctrines worldwide, from Malaysia to Mecca to Morocca to Manchester UK, mainstream sunni Islam has always been hostile towards Christians and Jews. Muslims are taught from young to bear grudges against Christians for the Crusades while viewing their own jihadist imperialism by the Arabs and Turks as past glories. Mainstream sunni Islam also teaches that Jews have screwed Muslims over. I haven't met a single Muslim or Malay Muslim who believes in the two-state solution for Israel and the Palestinian. They all unanimously believe that justice can only be served with the total annihilation of Israel.

I've never placed much trust in so-called surveillance. The europeans and americans have far better surveillance tech and infrastructure than we do, but yet they have utterly failed to curb in Islamic extremism. For all their surveillance, islamic radicalism is flourishing like never before. Putting hundreds of extremists under "surveillance" is nothing but a joke given that hundreds of thousands of their sympathisers simply slip under the radar and do their dirty work for them and when the time is ripe, step up their game and join a terrorist organization.

For example, how do you put these many people in Jakarta or jave under surveillance, given their public support for islamic intolerance?? And that's Indonesia alone.
