Singaporeans who frequent the restaurants of Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre took to the Chinese papers, Shin Ming Daily, to complain about the emergence of China prostitutes soliciting in the shopping compound.
Operating from massage parlours, a Singaporean family complained about scantily-dressed masseurs standing along the walkway calling out to men of all ages. A 48-year-old engineer said that when he was walking with his wife and 12-year-old boy to a restaurant at the level 3, a masseur asked him in Mandarin whether if he wanted a massage in front of his family.
According to a restaurant tenant in the mall, there are more than 10 such massage parlours offering sexual services. The Chinese daily news reporter masqueraded as a customer at one of the massage parlours and found out that the shop offered a base room rate of S$30, with additional services at S$50, S$80, S$120 and S$150 depending on the duration. The shop even accepted NETs transaction payment.
