Another point about the Farce of the review,,is there is no mention of a run off election when the winning candidate wins by such ridiculously low margins,,,there will never be a peoples president anymore....anyway 70% voted for it,,so guess the majority is happy and contented,,,so KPKB also no use,,give Pinky the blank cheque.

TCB and every sane Singaporean would know they are going to shift the goalpost within an hour of the previous EP results. Lets face it Tony Tan and the Govt became the laughing stock with a result as low of 35%.

TCB is not going to waste his time fighting this case. He is just stirring the pot and asking some innocuous sounding questions.

There is a going to Minority Malay EP for next round and a Malay establishment figure will be asked to run. There are no Malay candidates that will qualify in the private sector and those that qualify are all current and past PAP MPs that held political positions. It will be walkover.

They will not attempt to run a 2 man show like the first EP where they got another establishment figure to stand very reluctantly as that guy got 40% of the votes without campaigning which surprised some people.

There is a very deeply ingrained thinking within the PAP that admitting a mistake and reversing said mistakes is a show of weakness and must never be made known to the public. I noticed a pattern where they would often conclude internally that they've made a mistake on something fundamental, then proceed to perform all sorts of exotic policy gymnastics to u-turn the ship in practice without actually acknowledging they were on the wrong track.

This often results in hybrids that seem to be doing something on the ground which is contrary to the official goal. Sometimes it works, i.e. things change in practice without anyone needing to take responsibility for screwing up previously as officially nothing fundamental has changed, other times it simply ends up as an endless proverbial knocking down of rabbits only to have a few others pop up from the other holes.

Just a few recent ones:

1) SMRT - De-nationalizing was likely a mistake, but instead of nationalizing back, they offered a strange hybrid where a SWF privatises the company and "works closely" with the government to place social interest above profitability.

2) CPFIS - Bad experience for most participants, instead of scrapping, try to limit the options until there is not much for participants to choose from.

3) Elected Presidency - TCB drama, need to go back to appointment method, come up with a book of rules until only the appointed person qualifies.

4) Immigration - Need to roll back, never officially admit the previous policy was wrong and restart, orders MOM to make all sorts of policy tweaks on requirements and ICA to do all sorts of security check to "slow down" foreigners let in.

5) PSLE - Obviously this exam nonsense has gone too far, nobody dares to take bold steps to correct the erroneous thinking, but fiddles with inconsequential things like changing points to bands, then sum up to qualification points etc.

6) Taxi - More than a decade of disappearing taxis due to structural problems, nobody dares to overhaul but rhythmically slaps one ad-hoc fee and taxi KPI after another with no improvement to show. The moment car sharing apps came in, suddenly taxis and car-taxis are everywhere.

The 70% voted for it,,so forever things will never change,,but hey majority is fine with it,,so what more can I say?

Why the deep animosity towards him?

He earned his Dr. title by completing med school and he has been a good and generous doctor to many, including those who are poor.

Why do you think he will not do better as Prez than all the predecessors?

We are looking for a strong leader here, not a good doctor. If the Dr title is merely limited to his skills as a doctor, then fuck it, he should go back and hide in his clinic. He is a miserable failure and a reflection of the 70% daft & humji sinkies.

No, Dr Tan Cheng Bock. It's a sad day for you and you only because you are such a gong cheebye still in stubborn denial mode. Sinkieland will be ruined if you ever took over the honored position once occupied by our revered piece of black lard. How did you ever get your Dr title?

This is a govt that will amend the constitution for the purpose of excluding a single individual from contest.

Anyone still voting PAP in a general election or for a PAP-annointed candidate in a PE ought to have their heads examined.

Pap can't be seen as admitting fault and backtrack on it policies. Worst many if these policies were what the opposition had listed on their manifesto.

For eg Nationalizing public transport and abolishing elected presidency are the pet advocates of WP. It would only make the wp looks good if they openly adopt their policies and why should pap let their opponent scores?

Last year when there were news that gov would revamp the PE, Tcb countered by making a grand announcement of his intention to contest in a press conference to set the tone for the next PE. Now it seems like govt don't give 2 hoots about it and intend to bulldoze their way.

As far as PE is concerns, options are quite limited for Tcb. However he can exact maximum political cost on pap during GE by either
1)endorsing a certain opposition party.( his words carry weight amongst the middleground)
2) set up his own party (to contest in his power base in the west).
3)join existing opposition.( IMO least likely)

Actually TCB can do about of damage to the Pappies. He should contest the next GE...I bet he can win back his old constituency..but he has to avoid going toe to toe with Tartman. Tartman very popular.

He posted in fb to openly ask his supporters not to defend him about the PE while work in progress. Now than he realised he was short-changed. Having worked in PAP Camp for many years, he is still so backward and no foresight on what was coming?
