How fucked up is the SAF now adays? Even a simple ranking system they cannot make up their minds. Either they should follow all the naval ranks of follow all the army ranks for the navy. The RSN has admiral and vice admiral and rear admiral ranks which is consistent with a naval ranking system. In the US navy, a Captain rank is equivalent to a US Army Colonel rank and there is only one capt on the ship and he is the CO of the vessel. So what you are saying is that the SIngapore Navy follows army ranking system like Lt Colonel and Captain and then at a certain point, it switches to navy ranking system like admiral and rear admiral?
The SAF re: RSN officer ranks are all mixed up, as indicated above, and worse, one star Rear Admiral and two star Rear Admiral,
whereas if it is to follow such a system, then there should be a Commodore (one star), Rear Admiral (two stars), Vice Admiral (three stars), Admiral (four stars).
If the RSN is to use that system, then it should discard 2LT, LTA, CPT, MAJ, LTC, COL, Rear Admiral, etc.
