Gong Li now a S'pore citizen?
Sun, Aug 24, 2008
The Straits Times

The white chair had a small label with the words 'Gong Li'.But no one arrived to sit on it.

At the Supreme Court Auditorium last night, new Singapore citizens gathered to receive their citizenship certificates Sources had tipped off The Sunday Times that Gong Li, 42, one of China's most famous actresses, had applied for Singapore citizenship and was supposed to collect her pink IC at the event last night.

Celebrity hairstylist David Gan said: "She told me she applied for a Singapore passport. I told her it's good and I even congratulated her." Gong Li married Singaporean tobacco businessman Ooi Hoe Seong in 1996.

She is ASHAMED to be a Spore citizen. She did NOT know that it will be found out by the press. The only reason she is taking up as she can now enter USA without applying for a visa. She goes to USA often due to upcoming movie deals & PR tours!

Priyadarshan and his Singapore connection

Priyadarshan, who is busy shooting with Shah Rukh Khan in Pollachi for 'Billoo Barber' (a remake of 'Kuselan'), has left for Singapore recently, where he has reportedly bought a new house.

According to reports, both his children will study there from this year on, and the house is for their convenience.

When asked, the film maker said, "A housewarming ceremony will surely happen. Some of our close friends and relatives will be part of the occasion".

BEIJING, Feb. 4 -- Ooi Hoe-Seong, husband of prominent Chinese actress Gong Li, has won the suit against the Sudden Weekly, a Hong Kong gossip magazine, Hong Kong newspapers reported. The subject of the suit was a libel report published last December, which claimed Ooi lived on his wife’s income.

Ooi was entitled to a compensation of HK$200,000 (US$25,640).

The libel report said Ooi, a Singaporean, had financial difficulties after resigning as a director of British American Tobacco China in early 2001 and forced his wife to take on more films and commercial shoots.

Ooi told a Hong Kong court last week he and his parents were angry and humiliated by the report.

The allegations were “absolutely not true. It really hurt my feelings,” Ooi was quoted as saying in court. “I have worked in this region for 20 years and I kept receiving phone calls and e-mails from friends who thought I was in trouble.”

Ooi told the court the article was frequently discussed by people in his business circles and they greatly affected his business.

Before Ooi brought the case to court, the Sudden Weekly sought for reconciliation with Ooi and had deposited HK$200,001 into his account. This sum was later increased to HK$300,000. Ooi refused the request for reconciliation and made the lawsuit.

Gong Li, one of China’s most famous actresses, rose to stardom more than a decade ago with arthouse hits like Red Sorghum and Raise the Red Lantern. She recently starred in Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai’s 2046.

Singaporean men will forever be the most stupid !

They always married women who come over with a past !

Just always remember marriage is something which the government use to control you and the women's trap to torment you !

Zhang Yimou co-habit with her!
Ooi gave her almost half a decade of free ticket !
