Four suffer from smoke inhalation after fire at Hougang coffee shop

SINGAPORE - Four people suffered from smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at a coffeeshop at Block 246 Hougang Street 22 on Tuesday morning (May 17).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call at 2.42am and dispatched two fire engines, two Red Rhinos, three ambulances and three support vehicles. A power saw was used to gain entry to the coffee shop. The fire, which involved the contents of the coffee shop, was extinguished using two water jets.

A total of 82 people were evacuated, and of the four who were affected by smoke inhalation, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 60s were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, while a six-year-old boy was taken to KK Women's and Children's Hospital. The fourth person declined to be taken to the hospital, SCDF said.



The cause of the fire is under investigation.

If I were a Martian & is reading the news from stinktothecore, I would think that 82 people were in the coffee shop inside, there were 4 persons, who had to be taken to hospital, a 6 year old boy, man in his 50's , a woman in her 60's & the fourth one..didn't want to go to hospital ( after mentally checking his medishied).

This kind of reporting standard we have from the shit papers , who gave them the awards they claim to have won?. We live here, we know that the coffee shop is located in a block of flats & there are residents living there upstairs & around the coffee shop....but you are a Martian in Space, reading from Mars.....you would think that the SCDF have to break in to rescue them. In that case, the Martian would have to write to the Comm. of SCDF praising them for their quick & timely actions.... ha ha ha ha
