SDP had numerous policies spelt out, the speeches made resonated with the crowds but HBT didn't fall. WP had lots of ground work done, yet made no gains and lost PE in the end.

Too many cooks? Or is it safe to conclude that Sinkies can't be bothered about their liberties anymore?

I don't really think that, for the bulk of middle ground voters, it has/had anything to do with liberties, but more in terms of satisfying a consumerist culture and other material concerns. In the circumstances, WP did ok. In fact unlike the last Parliament where the opposition presence was reflected in 2 parties, in the next Parliament it will be reflected simply in WP. It might remain like that indefinitely given the very low votes garnered by the other parties.

if 70% of us thinks its a tragedy for Singapore if we vote for PAP, we wouldn't have done it. who do you think the 70% is made up of? do you really have no friends who voted for PAP? people who voted for Oppo or PAP are people like you and i.
