recently, spent a few hundreds for scanning, does not involve consultation or medicine. another friend, recently, also spent few hundred for antiseptic cream. all above were done at government hospitals.

i personally feel the pain of spending these few hundred although it's not much.

If healthcare was made free, the taxpayer will be severely burdened. There will also be massive overconsumption of healthcare infrastructure, resulting in extremely long waiting times for even simple procedures.

Every country that has even experimented with some form of universal subsidized healthcare (not to mention free healthcare) has royally screwed up their own healthcare system which inevitably becomes plagued with corruption, inefficiencies and greed. In the end, everybody suffers. Even the much lauded British NHS is plagued with lengthy waiting times, inefficiencies, and bucreacracy.

As always, something's gotta give, that means payment for medicals has to some from somewhere - the individual's pocket, taxpayer's money, or some other source. Considering Singapore's military spending and its actual "use," I think slashing some money on hardware should be considered and transfer those funds to be used on healthcare.

And a salary "cap" on the earnings of some doctors can be implemented. Their mission and purpose should be towards helping people who need medical attention, not living in mansions or villas or driving high-performance exotic supercars.

Cheers!

It's currently free to all Million dollars men.

They are enjoying right now.

One even claimed he only paid eight bucks for heart operations. While peasants paid five figure to six figure amount.

If peasants can't afford it, they rather die than let their children bear the debts.

Comparatively speaking, that is dirt cheap and close to free.

it's utterly unfair that they paid peanuts for their healthcare and we peasants pay obscenely more, how can we make them pay more!?

The industry is run by crooks. They treat patients like revenue then humans. Doctors r now pimping for additional services no difference from masseurs offering special.their face n attitude changing when told no.

From what you are saying. I think it's better to die than to pay hundreds of thousands and still gotta die.

No country provides free healthcare but what the 1st world country have is a health care system.

Take for example Canada. They have a good health care system but it is NOT free, however it is affordable. You pay less than $100/month for health insurance. Those with low income are exempted from the premiums.

The trouble in Spore is that health is a big business & many in the PAP have a stake in it. So there is a conflict of interest where it becomes a case of $$$ vs the welfare of Sporeans.
