The legislation was concocted with the objective of having the PAP candidates being shown smiling, spending a day with their families etc appearing on the front pages of the MSM. The introduction of the new rule featuring candidates' photographs was to provide additional familiar pics of the MIWs so that the old folks would vote for familiar faces. (PAP concept of brand familiarity). After 50 years, with a much younger generation and the older generations who have been through multiple erections, they introduce this rule? It's all insidious.

But with social media raging, this perceived advantage is no more. The old rules don't apply.

Cooling day is for citizens to launch a final assault.

They concocted the cooling off day because they think that we will reflect on all that they have done and will feel grateful and so vote for them. What has happened is that it became a day for us to think about what the oppo has said, the failed policies and the way we are being screwed.

For the pappies it's business as usual on Cooling Off Day.

Once again, double standards. Refer to the PAP candidates appearing at getai.

Won't be surprised if the pappies try some shenanigans (loitering?) on Polling Day, and the Election Department declares that they aren't doing anything illegal.

Let's face it, Cooling-Off day is an antiquated concept. In the age of social media, Twitter and Facebook, campaigning can go on until close of polls on Friday evening.
