With all bad news reporting worldwide, it already damage the "reputation" of this project.

If you are buying FC; you may need to pray the project will not be abandon.

If your prayer is answer; the project completed. You may end up living in a ghost city without neighbour. (80% of those Chinese owners may just buy to park some fund oversea without intention to come and stay)

To all new potential investors; you are better off not buying anything.

The plight of Forest City's migrant workers

Forest City is once again in the news and again for all the wrong reasons.
Apparent, there are possibly hundreds of illegal migrant workers being engaged in the job site.
Many claimed to be tricked into working there by agents but the point is they are being employed on the job site.
And now after the news of illegal immigrants came out, the Immigration Dept director-general Mustafar Ali said his officers "will raid" Forest City but never said by when.
On another side, the Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed said his ministry will consider legalizing these immigrant workers.
So, raid and deport or legalizing the illegal workers perhaps need further instructions from higher up after some "negotiations".
A bit tricky here for the Federal people because the Johor State's KPRJ and the Royal Family is also one of the main share holders in the Forest City development.

And perhaps, this is also happening in all other Chinese developers' job sites so in total, there could be thousands more "illegal migrant workers" that the authorities are "not aware of".
Interesting!

Chinese deals in Malaysia under scrutiny

China's growing involvement in Malaysia has been praised and panned in recent years. The Sunday Times looks at how its widening presence is drawing increasing attention in the first of a two-part series. Tomorrow, why the promise of new ports in Malaysia with help from China may not materialise.

when does the whitie govt really does and meant any good to its neighbours, only using 151th as the propaganda machine.

Country Garden set to build world’s largest IBS factory in Forest City

OMG!
Now Forest City is going to build the largest IBS factory there.
IBS is just another fancy name for pre-fabrication plant, belonging to the heavy industry category.
So, the future Forest City residents will be living very near to a very large prefab plant.
Once in operation, everyday, maybe during day and night, there will be tons heavy trucks coming in and leaving the plant to send in raw materials and delivery prefab components to construction sites all over the country.
For sure, the place will be very busy, brightly lighted and noisy.

However, something is terribly wrong here.
They spent billions$$$ to reclaim the islands which are supposed to build resort like residential homes and commercial/hospitality projects and now suddenly heavy industry amidst all these?
Is this in the original master plan?
Wonder if all the buyers are aware of this new development.

Good for the Country Garden to use the IBS. Quality is generally better, construction speed is much faster and pollution is significantly lower with IBS rather than the traditional timber formwork used by many local developers. With IBS, Country Garden can ramp up the property supply in Forest City very quickly.

I'd always say that what Johor really needed is to attract more such industries whereby large plot of land is required, into the state.
This proposed IBS plant cost about RM2.6 billion so it should be fairly big.
The problem is it will be build in Forest City, amidst blocks of resort-like residential homes.
The man-made islands are so small and all very close by so all the residential units are also not very far from it.
So, again the same question - are they supposed to have heavy industries in the islands in the master plan?
There will be lots of container trucks and trailer trucks moving in and out of Forest City daily disturbing the supposedly touted tranquil resort-like atmosphere.
The future residents will be in for a mega rude surprise.

The IBS factory should be a temporary structure to serve the immediate construction needs and it is likely to be removed once the key phases are completed at Forest City. The reclaimed land at Forest City is simply too expensive to sustain these operations.

Then some people must be really crazy enough to spend RM2.6 billion to build a temporary factory in the Forest City.
Perhaps the owner knows that those "major key phases" will not happen in a very long time, maybe even way pass their lease term; while the Forest City developer allowed them to build is also fully aware of this fact.
In the meantime, the future residents will have to endure the presence of a very large building component prefabrication plant very near their home.

Construction of second phase of Forest City project to start this month
BY YEE XIANG YUN
Tuesday, 2 May 2017

Read more at http://www.thestar.com.my/business/...ject-to-start-this-month/#0zRxgDzjzKpM7zYz.99

Forest City had confirmed that they had sold 16,000 units of residential units to date.
However, what they had constructed to date is far lesser than that 16,000 units so what they are doing now is to proceed with further phases of construction to fulfil that number.
Which means there will be Phase 3, 4 etc. and so on even if no further sales of residential units from now on.

According to the recent interview with the Country Garden Pacificview's chief strategy officer Dr Yu Runze, perhaps due to China's capital control problem, he said they are now "changing tack and planning to sell land and develop more commercial ventures and there will be a shift from retail to wholesale which includes establishing joint ventures with other companies, attracting investors and sales of land".
So, instead of developing more residential units as the initial master plan, they may be selling land to others for whatever uses (understandable because they need to recover the reclamation cost fast).

Hence, suddenly that very big IBS or building component prefabrication plant and maybe later, more such plants.
Looks like the 16,000 home buyers' future dream home environment may be quite different from the beautiful brochures they were given, big factories are not far away in Tuas but in their immediate neighborhood!!!
Most importantly, it seems that the developer is changing the land use at will; did they actually get official approval from the relevant authorities for such major changes?
And worse, are the 16,000 committed home owners totally in the dark of all these major changes to the future land use in Forest City!

A PreK-12 school opening Fall 2018 in Forest City, Malaysia

3778_dsc09940.jpg

SSM-Forest City will offer an American-style educational program starting with its youngest students and culminating in a variety of Upper School offerings in Advanced Placement (AP). School work will allow for not only formal teacher-based instruction, but also guided independent exploration of knowledge (i.e., information gathering, analysis, and synthesis), and regular collaborative work. A rigorous academic program featuring a particular focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) will be complemented by robust offerings in arts and athletics.

The school campus in Forest City will offer a diverse array of facilities to support academic, athletic and artistic pursuits. Graduates of will join a worldwide network of more than 6,000 Shattuck-St. Mary’s alumni.

School Divisions

All divisions except Early Childhood (Fall 2019) are slated to begin in Fall 2018.

Lower School

The Lower School will employ an integrated, Montessori-inspired approach to Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Health, Computer Science, World Languages, Arts, and Music. Students will be introduced to a comprehensive writing program integrating reading and writing from the early grades.

Middle School

The Middle School, welcoming grades 6-9, will offer a rigorous curriculum in English, History, STEM, Health, World Languages, Computer Science, Physical Education, and the Arts. Participation in athletics is required and students can choose from several competitive and non-competitive options. The Middle School calendar will feature a rich array of extracurricular events, contests and excursions.

Upper School

The Upper School will challenge students to develop both breadth and depth throughout their Upper School experience in both academics and co-curricular activities. An Advisory Program will match each student with a faculty advisor who serves as advocate and mentor throughout their Upper School experience.

Global Perspective

Students will be actively encouraged to develop global perspectives, habits of mind, and habits of heart that permit them to engage and address, as world citizens, the widest range of current and prospective global issues. A commitment to community service, public purpose, and sustainable living will form an integral part of these global perspectives. Students will benefit from a close association with the Shattuck-St. Mary’s School campus in Minnesota by participating in periodic exchanges and academic collaborations.

Forest City, Malaysia

Standing opposite Singapore, across the strait of Johor, is the site of a new project that its architects and developers hope will be the future of urban life in south-east Asia – a mega-city built along eco-friendly lines, with green energy and an end to the pollution that afflicts so many of Asia’s cities…

Energy will be provided from renewable sources, transport will be publicly provided, waste will be diverted to other uses, and the city is planned by the Malaysian government as a showcase to be copied on a bigger scale across the region. The plans are for a city that not only incorporates the latest in environmentally friendly technology, but that is designed for social integration. Green spaces and areas where people can mingle and relax will improve people’s wellbeing and encourage social cohesion…. Skyscrapers will be mixed with low-rise buildings and small self-contained “neighborhoods”. (Excerpt from: The Guardian)

The Iskandar Malaysia project features several easily-accessed, pedestrian friendly islands with neighborhoods intentionally arranged to accommodate services from housing to shopping to health care to education. Most traditional transportation – cars and buses – travels almost exclusively underground while the surface is criss-crossed by an elevated monorail, walkways, parks, and lots of greenery, including on the sides of buildings. The school’s campus is located on the main island, and is prominently positioned as the first set of buildings as one crosses the causeway onto the island. Any future project proposals for Forest City is still only a proposal until it actually materialized because plans will be kept changing from time to time without notice.
Just like that IBS factory.
No one was aware that there will be an IBS factory being build there and suddenly, without any prior announcement, there's one and its a really huge one costing RM2.6 billion.
It was reported that 3 lines are already in production, while the rest are in the test run stages and by June 2017, there will be a total of 12 lines in operation.
