Man, 48, murdered by friend after Geylang coffeeshop fight

SINGAPORE - A 48-year-old man was murdered on Sunday night after a fight in a Geylang coffeeshop.
The incident occurred at about 9pm at a coffeeshop between Geylang Lorong 6 and Lorong 8, reported Shin Min Daily News.
In a statement, the police said they were alerted to the case via a call at about 9.09pm.
The victim was found lying motionless at the location given. He was conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital but was subsequently pronounced dead at about 10.12 pm.
A 55-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the murder.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the two men are believed to have fought over a 40-year-old woman.
It is understood that the two men had been eating at the coffeeshop before a dispute broke out.
Witnesses told the Chinese evening daily that the victim had initially punched the other man in the face, before onlookers stepped forward to separate the two parties.
After being separated, the victim continued to challenge the other man to a fight.
Eye witnesses said that the victim had then dragged the other man outside, who then brandished a knife and stabbed the victim in the abdomen, causing him to fall onto the road outside the coffeeshop where he lay motionless.
A witness told Shin Min that the alleged murderer, who was wearing a red cap, immediately fled the scene in the direction of Geylang Lorong 4.
An SCDF spokesperson said that they had dispatched an ambulance to the scene after receiving a report, and attempted to administer CPR to the victim while conveying him to hospital.
