A 21-year-old man has said he was saving up money to buy an Apple Watch after being arrested at a train station in Guangzhou on March 10 for drug dealing, reports the Chinese-language Guangzhou Daily.

The man, surnamed Zeng, is from Hunan province. He is said to have dropped out of high school and migrated to Guangdong province in southern China for work. He said he is a gadget lover and bought an iPhone 6 two months ago with money borrowed from friends.

Zeng had arranged a drug transaction, exchanging 10 grams of methamphetamine and 130 pills of a compound known as "Magu" in China, a methamphetamine and caffeine blend for 3000 yuan (US$480).

While two others involved in the deal were caught at the scene on Feb. 5, Zeng got away. He was caught by police after buying a train ticket under his own name, the report said.
