The best paying jobs are in the hedge funds.

these are for entry-level true professionals who don't have greed and a penchant for fast money on their minds. hedge fund jobs are not easy to get in. you have to be invited, selected, and prove yourself in the 1st 3 months in the club of greed and no-holds barred. and no doubt if you're good, you get rewarded beyond your expectations.

Agree with you. These are the professions most suitable for people wanting a middle class or upper-middle class boring lifestyle that provide the security of a very steady and predictable income. However, these are not for people who want make big bucks and get rich quick.

Hedge fund managers, financial market traders and speculators are the ones making multimillion dollars a year but the risk of huge losses are high.

The big money is on Wall Street, not doctor's or dental office. It's certainly not in a hospital either.

I've seen a website which published the net worth of some of America's most famous and wealthiest doctors. Some of them are plastic surgeons for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Some are neurosurgeons. Their average net worth is only around US$4m for these middle aged doctors who are nearing retirement age. What a pathetic low net worth for these doctors who are very well regarded and respected across the country. Mind you, these are not your average GPs, specialists, or surgeons living next door. Perhaps doctors are lousy at managing their finances.

interestingly, abortion doctors are very well paid as their clinics collect payments in cash, over us$300 per visit. they report lower earnings minus "bloated" expenses and deductibles for tax, and they get away with a heftier net after tax. the irs is always after them besides pro-life zealots. cosmetic surgeons (including physicians offering botox injections) and abortion docs are raking in the dough, but yes, they don't make hundreds of millions like very successful hedge fund managers do. in app software development, an engineer or programmer working for a post-ipo company can rake in us$200k a year plus stock options. if he or she works for a pre-ipo startup, it's typically half of that but stock options make up for the lower pay. if the startup becomes successful and goes ipo or gets sold for billions, early employees including the secretary or admin assistant with stashes of stock options can turn into instant millionaires. that's a more popular route in the valley than waiting to win the lottery.
