NEA sounds alert as dengue infections soar

In the week ending June 28, there were 676 reported cases of dengue. This is a significant increase in cases from the previous week, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said on its dengue website.

So far, close to 9,000 people have been infected this year.

The agency added that there may be a further rise in dengue incidence as the warmer weather over the next two to three months shortens the breeding and maturation cycles of the Aedes mosquitoes, as well as the incubation periods for the dengue virus.

"The best way to mitigate the higher transmission is to continue efforts to reduce the mosquito population," NEA said.

NEA and its Inter-Agency Dengue Task Force partners, as well as Town Councils, are continuing in its efforts to check for and remove potential mosquito breeding habitats.

"As community support is critical in stopping dengue transmission, we strongly encourage everyone to do the 5-Step Mozzie Wipout and join in the collective effort to fight dengue," NEA said.

Vivian gets paid more than $1.5 million after bonus and he can't even prevent a dengue epidemic? Why the hell are we paying him so much of our tax dollars then?

NEA will come out with statistics that all MOSQUITOES infected with the Dengue viruses, originate from all WP's wards....& fly to PAP controlled places. "we maintain & look after our constituents daily, not like some TC's"....coming to an announcement near you! ha ha ha

Yes. anyone who is a threat to him...either as a threat to the party by bringing the party down with his poor performance
or as a threat by becoming overly smart and outshine the boss in the case of George Yeo.

Why you so like that, you are not in Stingapore you don't know the situation here. The NEA road side drain near my factory at Ubi always blocked and full of stagnant water that is a mosquitoes breeding ground, for your info so far 3 coffee shop attendants suffered from Dengue, one almost died. Vivian is sleeping on his job, should be punished and sexed (sacked).

The drain water stagnant cos your pay also stagnant. Once yoou get a pay rise the drain will b ok and the mossie will self aflick themselve n commit suicide.
