Singapore to Delay Infrastructure Work to Limit Influx of Foreigners

geylang news....

in concert with delays expected in major infrastructure works to limit the influx of low-skilled construction workers, a measure is being taken to reduce and forestall the output of cum production in the geylang area. low-skilled workers involved in cum extraction will face more pressures (with less pleasure) in extending their work permits. it is also expected that raw material for cum production will decline as there will be less construction workers going to geylang for voluntary donations. the fact is that all of them have to pay for donating. however, highly-skilled cum extractors will still be allowed to ply their trade as they contribute to the general welfare of society and help improve productivity by sheer efficiency and speed of their best practice.

Are you sure in finance sector ? I thought is the IT sector ?
PAP does not have a answer to this, besides retraining ? Retrain as what ? go WDA and pay them course fee ? Then these people go uni for fark ?

Sometimes finance and IT may overlap.

This LHL still act blur. No one cares about those bangla temp workers in construction, it is the importation of so-called "professionals" that is destroying the Sinkie worker. Stop it lah, LHL.

im surprised the middle class or unemployed ex middle class didn't complain. maybe they all quit to OZ or jump into reservoir already?

Delay infrastructure work does not solve the problem you fucking Pink prick....

That does not alleviate the situation of locally jobless PMETs.

There is something strange with this announcement. Why would the Govt cut back on a sector that has not been an issue with Singaporeans in terms of jobs, driving up house prices, jam the roads, etc. These guys are also put up in worker dormitories.

More importantly, this will not help the PAP at the next elections. So why did they do it. Or is there $2B going into something else?

Yes, we need to integrate more new citizens into the PAP and differentiate sinkies in the workforce, relagating them to "entreprenuers" begging for projects at PA.

build a core constructions and maintenance workforces using local citizens - pay them well and will see more people take up this work.

Wayang party wants zero FT growth. Now who going to build and maintain those infra? You think wayang party will to do? Give stupid suggestions then flip flop when things not turning out well. Let this type of co driver become main driver, car sure crash. Vote in a few more co driver also will crash.

I imagine the PM is finally taking up Mr Low Thia Kiang's advice to cut back and manage the numbers of foreign workers better.

I last looked at the TV and news just in that they are also finally raising the min wage levels of workers!

Who says LTK and the WP are not doing a good job? They have exceeded our expectations without being confrontational. So the lion in parliament finally backs down to the raccoon. Or the slaps have done the sleeping driver a heck lot of fucking good.

The WP has done well for ordinary Singaporeans. The pap is playing a clever game by trying to get the public to have higher expectations of the WP so that they will be disappointed.

Automate and raise the dignity of ordinary labour . The way it's done in Japan and Australia.

What this govt needs to really do is to create an economy where more high value added jobs are the norm that not only attract highly qualified and talented foreigners but also attract locals who have those skills, and also allow other locals to aspire to.

That way, immigration adds higher worth to the economy, and locals' salaries can also rise. For years, the govt talked so much about knowledge economy but ended up only with data centres, low level IT jobs which then went to foreign Indians.

For this, the fellas at MTI and EDB ought to be shot for failing Singaporeans.

Because what the govt knows abt knowledge economy is limited to things one do in the ICT sector, which just so conveniently and nicely the Indian diaspora fits in. Has the govt also got some kind of fetish for foreign Indians?

Projects to be delayed include new government offices, an extension to the Gardens by the Bay horticultural complex, and a new science center. This would reduce Singapore’s demand for construction workers by 20,000-30,000 people, Mr. Lee said.

=> Why should money be wasted on building palaces and useless gardens for the FAPee Traitors in the first place?

I totally agree with you. The more I read the weirder it becomes. It could be a sitiation where there is some mid to long term projection that foreign investments in propertylies is likely to fall, for example China's cull in corrupt officials, means that the number of purchases is likely to fall drastically. With this outlook, LHL simply announces that he is cutting down construction workers to make Singaporeans happy, while relying on something he has to do anyway.

Typical PAP. Being deliberately obtuse and making the problem worse... possibly seeking revenge too.

Yes, seeking revenge. Pinkie is petty, vengeful and unforgiving. This behavior of his is repeated and the most recent shown in Roy's lawsuit.

Don't be fooled by his clownish laughters. Below that facade hides an insidious man.

This govt has been using construction workers and SMEs as strawmen arguments, and pulling back their supply and hurting SMEs are all bogeyman threats.

Are all foreign labour only construction workers and cheap labour for SMEs in F&B building etc? Why is govt not upfront about how many foreign workers are there in the IT and finance sectors, the foreign workforce on E-passes? Together with these, how many were issued Long term visit passes?

Can the numbers in these sectors be cut instead? Who will lose? Is the govt scared of offending Indian big businesses? the Indian govt?

I have also been saying its the PMET category is the problem not the construction workers and maid and low level jobs,,,PAP is doing a shit job and hope the people sees through his garbage,,,,

The workers don't bother me one bit.....its the fucken explosion of mid level execs come here from donno where that get on my tits.

Please stop them from coming on a tourist visa and hawking their resumes around.

Exactly, while we were talking about the influx of new citizens, PRs and PMETs, the govt is targeting the constructions workers, then laid the blame of infrastructural delays on the masses. They are obviously on a different wavelength as the citizens.
