Chendol & Cheng Tng

Does anyone here like chendol and cheng tng? Where can you get the best chendol and cheng tng?

Is chendol the name of the desert or does it refer to the green jelly?

Is cheng tng the name of the desert or does it refer to the algae looking like jelly inside? What makes the cheng tng "cheng"?

Chendol refers to the desert: everything is collectively known as chendol :smile:

Cendol or es cendol is a traditional dessert originating from Java, Indonesia, but is also popular in Malaysia, Singapore, and Southern Thailand (where it is called lorkchorng singapore ลอดข่องสิงคโปร์). The dessert's basic ingredients consist of shaved ice, coconut milk, starch noodles with green food coloring (usually sourced from the pandan leaf), and palm sugar. Red beans, glutinous rice, grass jelly, and creamed corn are optional additions. Cendol has become a quintessential part of cuisine among the multi-racial population in Southeast Asia and is often sold by vendors at roadsides, hawker centres and food courts.

Cheng Teng algea looking like jelly I not sure what it called but is a mushroom type.
For cendol you have to get is in Malaysia is very good they use lots of pandan leaves and coconut milk. Green colour in Cendol is make of pandan leaves that why is so fragrance.

Gold medal cendol winner is Melaka, silver to Penang and bronze to KL.

S'pore cendol is most expensive but simply messed up and can't make it.

Yo, with the best gula melaka to go with it. Simple ingredients, green algae stuff + red beans + coconut milk with shaved ice. Add attap chee for special. Distinct from usual ice kachang with plenty carnation milk and sugary colourings :biggrin:

Malaysian chendol is very solid! Diff from the Spore version. The best i ve had in Msia are from the indian road side push cart stalls but i digress.

Any bros can recommend good chendol stalls in Spore?

i think the key to making a nice chendol is the coconut
must be fresh and the right amount.
gives the dessert an aroma

The chendol in Malaysia is the best. But sometimes hit and miss - can get tummy upset :(
