Man jailed for taking upskirt photos of woman at MRT station
SINGAPORE: A steersman has been sentenced to one week's jail for taking upskirt photos of a 29-year-old woman.
64-year-old Lim Khng Seng pleaded guilty to one count of intruding the privacy of the woman on May 3 this year, at 7.44am.
Lim had spotted the woman, who was wearing a short denim skirt, at Tanjong Pagar MRT station and followed her up one of the escalators.
The woman, who was alert, confronted Lim, who then panicked.
He tried to flee by running up the escalator but was detained by a passer-by.
Lim had previously pleaded for leniency, saying curiosity got the better of him.
He told the court he was given a new mobile phone by the office, so he was learning how to operate it and decided to try out the camera function.
In sentencing, the district judge said the general custodial range is two to four weeks.
Having taken all factors into account, the judge said the custodial threshold has been crossed and ordered Lim to be jailed for a week. - CNA/nd
