A Man has been charged with 113 counts of unauthorised access to the Ministry of Manpower's appointment scheduling system.

Abdul Gafoor Jahangeer Basha, 33, was first hauled to court last December for knowingly causing a computer to illegally access the e-appointment system for MOM's Employment Pass Services Centre (EPSC).

He allegedly accessed the log-in credentials from a file on the system on Nov 17 last year. Yesterday, 112 more charges were piled against him, including accessing the EPSC using other people's foreign identification numbers.

Gafoor, who used to work in an IT firm, allegedly used the log-in credentials of work pass or long-term pass applicants.

He is also accused of unauthorised modification of the contents of the appointment scheduling system and attempting to modify the records by changing the status of applications. All 113 alleged offences occurred between Oct 10 and Dec 4 last year.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Sanjiv Vaswani successfully applied for a gag order on details of the charges, saying publication would affect public security.

Gafoor, who was represented by Mr Anand Nalachandran, is out on police bail of $8,000.

His next pre-trial conference is on May 31.

He is not dumb...must be colluding with some worker's agent..each altered details..he may earn thousands, add phantom ones 113 counts or maybe more, say 113 x $2,000 = S$226,000 covert to TAKAS = 13,996,192 Bangladesh Takas, all must have sent home already by personal courier..$8,000 bail too little.

This guy is a scapegoat. You can rest assured that the entire system has been compromised. You can of course count on the ever vigilant civil servants of SG to investigate further to find the actual perpetrator of the crime. It is highly impossible that an inside job is not involved. Someone has a loophole into the system.

Bank, he can be easily traced..& may not get his money...altering MOM Database in conjunction with the worker's agent, money collected, quickly sent & squirreled back home..."eat curry rice", for we are quite "generous" with FT's...spent the least 18 mths or less..go home, can own tracts of land & be landlord, have 4 wives..

This guy could be a terrorist in waiting. He could have got his Malaysian IC in Sabah from Mahathir. Cold room treatment in WRDC would make him spell the beans.

I get your point, these are small time crooks, if sophisticated, by the time MOM found out, they would have cleared their tracks & scooted off with the "loot". Someone here mentioned, there is a 'link' in the inside...
