our education system is still stuck in the old economy style. it churn out people who are doers and not thinkers. hard working and intelligent, but zero confidence and cannot talk, communicate properly or express themselves. this type of workers are now a dime a dozen at the fraction of the cost - prc, pinoy, indian etc.
solution is to aim higher - but that space has been taken up by angmohs, foreign born asians. u will be surprised by how many aussie chinese are in singapore. they are bright, confident, speak better etc.
this is what happens when someone say he wants singapore to become like paris, new york or london. but we forget that in such cities, cost of living is sky high and jobs are available only for the best or the cheapest. we also forget that for the citizens of those countries, they can live in cheaper suburbs or move to other parts of country if they cant make it in the city. for sinkies? they can do fuck all but suck thumb cos other than property prices, cost of living in jurong r seng kang is the same as tanjong pagar and katong.
