People's Action Party cadres today elected a new central executive committee for the first time since its old guard like former PMs Lee Kuan Yew and Goh Chok Tong stepped down last year.
Fourth-generation ministers like Education Minister Heng Swee Keat, Acting Minister for Social and Family Development Chan Chun Sing and Second Minister for the Prime Minister's Office Grace Fu made it to the top 12 with the most number of votes from the thousand plus cadres.
The members of the new CEC are:
Lee Hsien Loong, Khaw Boon Wan, Yaacob Ibrahim, Teo Chee Hean, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Lim Swee Say, K Shanmugam, Chan Chun Sing, Grace Fu, Gan Kim Yong, Heng Swee Keat and Ng Eng Hen.
Two others were co-opted into the CEC as they received the 13th and 14th highest number of votes: Acting Minister for Manpower Tan Chuan-jin and Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Vivian Balakrishnan
