He had sex with his teenage daughter and made her pregnant two years ago - and both of them did not know that they were related.
The unemployed 54-year-old Malaysian man, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to 12 years' jail and given seven strokes of the cane for statutory rape, reported the New Straits Times.
The man and the girl's mother had lived together years ago and he had left her without realising she was pregnant, reported The Star.
He married another woman and had two children with her. They later divorced.
Two years ago, he returned to the victim's mother and they resumed living together but the woman did not tell him that the girl was his daughter.
The court heard that the victim, then 13, had asked her mother and the accused to sleep with her in her room at their flat in Selangor, in July 2010.
At about 1am that night, she woke up and saw the accused removing her underwear, but she remained quiet. They had sex.
The victim, now 16, gave birth to a baby girl in April last year.
While giving her statement in court on Tuesday, she said she had sex with the man willingly.
'I did not know'
"When it happened, I did not know he was my father and I was willing to have sex with him," the victim, who looked upset, said.
The victim told judge Emelia Kaswati Mohamad Khalid that she had told her mother about it, but her mother had nothing to say as it had already happened.
She also told the judge that she wanted to complete school and look after her child. The teenager is going to school in Negeri Sembilan and is staying at a shelter for children, while her child was at another shelter.
The judge said: "Make sure you look after your child so that she does not do what you and your mother have done."
Pleading for a lighter sentence, the accused said he did not know that the victim was his daughter as he had lived apart from her mother.
He said that he only came to know that she was his daughter when she was 14, after the victim's mother told him about it.
He also said that his first wife and two children, aged 16 and 12, were not aware of this incident, and that he had a chronic heart problem.
The judge told the accused that she had to take public interest into account in passing sentence.
"This is the time people your age are performing their Haj, but you are going to jail instead," the judge remarked.
Deputy public prosecutor (DPP) Ooi Chean Ling said the accused had been caught for four offences previously, including rape and consuming drugs.
"He has served two jail sentences but continues to repeat his mistakes,"the DPP said.
In another case, a man forced a 31-year-old woman to pay him RM1 (40 cents) after raping her three times in a hotel room in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
China Press reported that the man, in his 30s, was at a restaurant where the woman was working and noticed she was alone.
He handcuffed the woman and took her to a nearby hotel before forcing himself on her.
He also threatened to harm her if she made a police report.
