SINGAPORE - SMRT has responded to Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) letter of apology but the public transport operator remains tight-lipped on the details of its reaction.

In response to TODAY's queries about its reply to SPH, an SMRT spokesperson told TODAY that "we have replied ST".

SPH English and Malay Newspapers Division Editor-in-Chief Patrick Daniel had sent a letter to SMRT interim CEO Tan Ek Kia on Monday to apologise for a fabricated report about one of its trains moving off with its doors open.

In his letter, Mr Daniel said: "We truly regret the damage this has caused SMRT." Straits Times Editor Warren Fernandez added: "We will have to work to improve our print and online processes."
