SINGAPORE: Kuomintang Vice Chairman Chiang Pin-kung met Senior MInister Goh Chok Tong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew on Thursday.
Mr Chiang, who is also Chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation, was in Singapore for a party-to-party exchange with the People's Action Party.
Mr Goh's press secretary said the Senior Minister, at his meeting with Mr Chiang, welcomed recent developments in cross-strait relations.
He congratulated Mr Chiang on the successful conclusion of talks, held in November, between the Straits Exchange Foundation and the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait.
He added that such continual cross-strait exchanges build confidence and strengthen mutual trust between the two sides.
Mr Lee's press secretary said the Minister Mentor, during his meeting with Mr Chiang, noted that continued dialogue and co-operation across the Taiwan Strait is beneficial to both sides especially during the current economic crisis.
Mr Lee added that more economic links between Taiwan and the mainland will revive Taiwan's economy and benefit the cities on the mainland, where more than a million Taiwanese are staying and conducting successful businesses. - CNA/vm
