Ex-SCDF chief appears in court on Wednesday

Former Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) chief Peter Lim arrived at the Subordinate courts at about 8.10am on Wednesday.

He is accused of having corruptly obtained sexual gratification from two female vendors and one potential female vendor to the SCDF on 10 occasions between May 2010 and November 2011, as inducement for showing favour by advancing the business interest of their companies with SCDF, said the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) on Wednesday.

The 51-year-old was dropped off in a black car and walked into the building alone.

Investigations have centred on Mr Lim allegedly accepting sexual favours from several women in return for tenders for IT-related contracts.

No idea Sir. But I must say Peter Lim just demonstrated the principle of not judging a book by his cover :biggrin: I've SCDF friends and many of them are quite shocked with this latest revelation (of him being charged for corruption and with more than one woman).

I'm waiting to see what happens to Colonel Nelson Yau, the former NDP chief who stepped down. He was speculated to be the PAP candidate for either Hougang or AMK by-election, then someone even said he will run in Hougang under WP.

But as we know, there was no election in AMK and the 2 choices in Hougang were predictable. Nelson Yau must be in some kind of trouble, some said he is one of the 80 who slept with the underaged girl.

The three women held senior positions in their companies at the time of the alleged offences.

They are Pang Chor Mui, a general manager at Nimrod Engineering, Lee Wei Hoon, a director at Singapore Radiation Centre and Esther Goh, a business development director at NCS Private Limited.

The offences allegedly took place at the car parks at Big Splash East Coast Park and the Singapore Indoor Stadium, apartments and even at a hotel in France.

The former commissioner was arrested by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau in January this year and removed from his post to help with investigations.

He is now out on a police bail of S$10,000.

Lim's passport has been surrendered to the CPIB.

Dressed in a blue long-sleeved shirt, Lim appeared worried as his charges were read out in court.

He was accompanied by a man and a woman, who later told the media that they were there to give Lim moral support.

Lim will be back in court on July 5.

Heard somewhere that his wife contracted cancer and might affect his performance of NDP duties, if the situation worsens.

the area around indoor stadium quite secluded. Thats the thrill, if get caught, he can say as SCDF chef, I am demonstrating how to put out a fire with my hose.

Probably not so much sinful. YSL was alleged to have committed adulterous affairs, but in a way these are private matters between consenting adults. PL used the colours of his office to obtain sexual gratification for himself, in exchange he gave the ladies IT contracts.

PL's acts are of greater public interests because public money is involved. In a sense, all tax payers are victims of PL's corrupt acts. For YSL, the victims are his wife and family, the alleged ladies and their families. In terms of extent of damage, I guess it's quite clear.

PL is corruption, YSL is adultery.

PL was chosen by the government, YSL by Hougang residents.

YSL's conduct is sinful in its own right, especially to the faith that he professes, the unwanted baby whose life looks likely to be terminated via abortion, and the husband of the adulteress.

What is to be said is nothing PL did is going to neutralize or alleviate the sinfulness of YSL's conduct.
