全日空（ＡＮＡ）航空公司的空服員杉野由子，涉嫌在神戶市的家中掐死五個月大的親生子，十三日上午被兵庫縣警方以殺人罪嫌逮捕。杉野供稱，「育嬰一點都不快樂，十分厭惡，想再回到只有夫妻倆的生活。」「想到兒子被我這種母親養實在很可憐，為兒子的將來著想才想把他殺了。」
卅九歲的杉野生下第一胎後，請產假在娘家育兒，她向兵庫縣警方表示，她於十二日上午七時左右，掐住熟睡的長男脖子，讓他窒息而死。上午十時左右，母親問她「兒子呢？」她回答說：「我掐死了，他已經沒有呼吸了。」隨後在母親的催促勸告之下打電話報警自首。
杉野的兒子被送醫急救，但仍於四小時後宣告不治死亡，杉野也因此被警方以殺人罪嫌移送檢方偵辦。
杉野與四十一歲的丈夫和兒子住在神戶的娘家，丈夫目前隻身在東京的建設公司上班，事發時她父親正外出旅行，家中只有她和母親、兒子三人。
附近鄰居向日媒表示，杉野經常是笑臉迎人，看起來很開朗，小嬰兒也很活潑、健康，看起來那麼幸福的家庭，想像不到居然會發生這種事！
