Think Tam Sang THB 50 can get fried rice nia. A little hard to find in town area. Probably can get it on the opposite side of Sukumvit Road, known as Dark Side.

You're right, not in town. In the sois, I mean. But 35 baht I can get fried vegetables over white rice, add 7 baht for a fried egg. Pad Thai only 35 baht.

But it appears that prices of food in Pattaya may not necessarily be lower than in Bangkok.

HCMC = ex Saigon. On short working trip, back wed. Ho Chi Minh City.
Kns, went next door to 26flr sky view ..boring, hi so place.

Then went to Catwalk, chio bus plenty. But pricey (for my holey pockets). Had 2 gals for company, time cost @dong500k (sgd31). Can sit with you for hours. 4 beers incl gals plus spring rolls dong800+ and tips to mamasan dong1.1mil (sgd70). Out of pocket 130 bucks for experience and ego trip. Business hotel not gf friendly, outside cost usd30-50. LT (or ST?) usd200 wtf. Hasty retreat, as Catwalk geared to business or tourist visitors. 50 gals total stock, on good day 100 (I'm told)

Got lobang for local pubs, Ha Ba Trung -dunno where, tomorrow cho kang.

Cbfc, sorry for bad pics night scene ..bad shots, nervy hands.

Very long never drink Barley water (Yee Bee Zui). Finally found some good Bai Tey (Pandan Leave) in a wet market and bought 2 bunches. Knn, THB 10 so many until have to bend the 2 bunches into half in order to fit into the fridge. Think the actual name should be pearl barley. SG equivalent is Ayam brand. This is simple to make.

1 cup of barley and 5-6 Pandan leaves tied up. Wash both Barley and Pandan Leaves and dump everything into the slow cooker. Set to high heat and switch to low heat 30 mins later. 1 hour later, prior to serving, add sugar according to preference. Normally, I will let it cool and pour into water bottles to keep in the fridge.

Can also add lemon prior to serving. This is also good to Tao Liang beside Beer.

Pearl Barley

Interesting, havent cooked barley drink before...so it is 30 min plus 1 hour i.e total 1.5 hour to cook?

Chocolate Ville at the end of Kaset/Nawamin almost connecting to Ring Road (Kanchanaphisek). This is one big place with tables all over owned and operated by the same owner or Wine I Love You.

Looks like a very nice place to enjoy.

If we can use the number of motorcycles as a gauge then HCMC (commercial city not capital) has many many more than Bangkok (capital) and much less cars than Bangkok so in this sense Vietnam can be considered poorer. However in HCMC its very common to see luxury vehicles like Bently, RR, 4 doors Merssarati and Porsche sedans and SUVs, Audi, Lexus, BMW, Benz. It is also very common to see these cars brand new being sold in small shops (yes strange, Bentlys) I mean small shops like the ones you see along Bt Timah Road opposite Newton Hawker Centre behind the bus stop just before the entrance to CTE yes unaircon shops. Strange. I guess the income gap is really wide meaning those who can afford 4 wheels buy really expensive cars. I cannot speak for Vietnam as a whole as I've been only to HCMC like 7 times over the past 2 years.

Are their luxury vehicles really really cheap?

Disparity goes beyond viet their dongs with too many zeros (16k to 1sgd). In recent years, Vietnam had progressed, quite evident with spanking airport, shops and businesses everywhere. Oil and gas up coming. See comparison on macros by CIA fact book

Good morning Saigon, 630 from my window.

Good morning vietnam and bros,

Looks like great weather in HCMC. Same here in Sin City. Cool morning due to the light drizzling in the evening.

Remember it's quite difficult to get a good hotel for less than USD 100 even if it's book by local Vietnam companies. And that's about 4-5 years ago. How's the situation now? Last visit to both HCMC and Hanoi is 2008. Believe much as change now.

Very expensive for their standard. I remembered my distributor's new Q5 a gift from his mom early last year for agreeing to help in the family's business cost about S$150k if I remember correctly.

Brekkie with pho beef, liked their mini glass dumplings. Another day view from lounge terrace
