ST-LOUIS, Missouri: Singapore's first F-15 SG fighter plane has rolled off the Boeing factory production line.

It is the Republic of Singapore Air Force's (RSAF) latest acquisition, replacing its fleet of A-4 Super Skyhawks. Singapore has ordered 24 F-15 SGs, believed to cost over US$1 billion.

The F-15 SG is the world's most advanced version of the jet ever produced. The F-15 is also perhaps one of the most successful fighter jets in modern history. It has a perfect air combat record with 104 campaign victories and no losses.
Boeing has produced more than 1,500 F-15s over the past three decades.

Currently, five countries use the aircraft, including the United States, Saudi Arabia, Israel, South Korea and Japan. Singapore will be the first country in Southeast Asia to fly the F-15.

The RSAF will benefit greatly from the spares and repair pipeline that will be established for the US Air Force. They will also benefit from the training and tactics developed by the US Air Force for the F15E.

When the Singapore aircrew arrive to train at Mountain Home Air Force Base, they will be training alongside the US Air Force's air and maintenance crews.

In December 2005, Singapore officially awarded the contract to Boeing, and production of the F-15 SGs started in March 2007.

When delivered, the F-15 SG will be one of the new components in the on-going third generation transformation of the Singapore Armed Forces.

The production of one F-15 SG takes about 36 months, before it is being prepped for its first flight. Following that, there is a round of flight tests and system configurations before Boeing delivers the first F-15 SG to the RSAF.

One squadron can have up to 18 planes, depending on config. U have so many missles on 1 F15 meh? Maybe crash during take off becos overload. Disappointing clinton. Or are you rebelling against your masters now with such lower standards?

The F15 can take out planes either using it's Sidewinder missles or it's 20mm gun.

F-15 Weapon Loads
1 - M-61A1 20mm multibarrel internal gun, 940 rounds of ammunition
4 - AIM-9L/M Sidewinder and
4 - AIM-7F/M Sparrow missiles, or
combination of AIM-9L/M, AIM-7-F/M and AIM-120 missiles.

You are such a fucking moron. RSAF has one of the highest accident rates in the world. Approx. 20 A-4 Skyhawks lost including 3 that flew into a mountain near Clark Airbase, one crash into a farmers chicken coop in Punggol, one crashed into the sea after being hit by richocet from 30mm cannon round during life firing, as well as a dozen Hawker Hunters including 2 that were lost in a mid air collision over the Straits of Malacca. Plus numerous other aircraft lost like Strikemasters, T-33s, F-16s, helos, etc. These are just from my memory. I am sure I have left out a lot more.

A machine is only as good as the man inside ..so again experience counts , kindly read up some defense journals for real expamples of operational efficiency which have recorded by other air forces ..not SAF

Actually I once read or heard before that the Malaysian or Indonesian Army is the most fearless in jungle warfare. This is considered with the fact that no air strike or cruise missiles are used. Pure tactical fight and survival skills. The Asians will fare much better than most western armies. However, if you put the threatre of war to desserts or cold baren land, it will be different story.

wars are not won by air or sea strikes alone. it's the troopers on the ground that makes the difference in holding the line of defense or tilt the advantage on assault, when metal meets the flesh.

as for our sg soldiers, 90% can't even identify sweet potato, tapioca, taro plant. can't sort their bearings even with compass, n they will see stars but can't read constellaton/navigation.

The Iraqi war was won by US's air power alone. The shock and awe tactic through aerial bombardment brought the Iraqi Army to its knees.

By the time the ground war started, Iraq has no tanks, no Artillery..
just AK47s.

Trying to buy what is weapons for a Cold War type of scenario in a world that its mostly terrorism and insurgencies really baffles me since these F-15s will not help us in preventing a terrorist slipping in from any country.

What is needed is more investment in military and national intelligence, to keep track of movement of famous terrorists, or suspected ones, through international networking with our foreign counterparts. I mean, if we can arrest them faster to stop them from even planting those bombs, it'd better right?

And it'd be cheaper.

Sure, and what role did their F-15s do to quell the insurgency and the battle to win the hearts and minds of the Iraqis later? I mean did the US Air Force actually help US to win the Vietnam War?

In a war of ideas, ideas are often bulletproof. You can kill a million men, but as long as there are two people willingly to take over the position of one killed comrade, and fulfill those ideals, there's no way you can kill an insurgency fueled by such ideas- by conventional military wisdom and methods.
