Man jailed for cheating teens of their mobile phones

An unemployed man who got hold of three victims' smart phones by deceiving, misappropriating or snatching them was jailed for one year and 10 months on Friday.
Chia Kok Ann, 26, pleaded guilty to five of 12 charges, including impersonating a police officer and causing hurt.
A district court heard that Chia was sniffing glue at the void deck of a block of flats in Hougang Avenue 5 on the evening of July 22 when he called out to Darren Tan, 16, and his 15-year-old friend who were cycling past.
He told the younger boy that he liked him a lot, and wanted to be his sworn brother, to which the victim agreed.
