Template Example - Replacing and populating it's content

Here’s the step by step guide to create a new project from an existing project or template. It is assume you have all your contents ready before your start. These contents can be pure pictures or a composite of picture, text, graphic and multimedia files.

• Gets your content ready

• Creates a new Notice Board library for touches ( optional ), and can be done later

• Open an existing Notice Board project as template

• Drag and drop your content

• Adjust the schedule if necessary

In this example, I am going replace a small piece of content with basically a series of tropical fruits and a video clip. I’ll skip the library and proceeds directly to open an existing project.

If you double click and run this project template.rar, this is how it looks.

This project runs on a 1280x768 touch screen, with a 1024x768 for displaying your content and a 256x768 group tab for interactive control. The top 2 icons are videos while the banner items are mixed graphic content, however all are being scheduled according to their time interval ( below ).

This is the schedule view when you open the project for editing.

Open the project as template, double click on first and second screen, it will bring you into the group items. Drag and drop by replacing any of the banner.

Move to the content screen by double clicking on your banner.

In this example, there is only one content page for each group item, replace it and then toggle the “replace” button to “insert”. Drag and drop your content to replace or insert.

Retrun to the previous screen and click on the banner to set the content type and options.

Set the type to “Change” or any of your preferred choice. As we intend to display it on the touch screen with interactive control, check both the “Touch Pad” and “Touch Area”.

Note: To support touches and interactive control, you have to select a window type other then “None”. The latter will not react to touches.

Return to the group item. Here, I make a screen shot of the wild life sample video and replace the icon with it. Double click on the wild life icon.

In this sample, we don’t have a video clip, so toggle the “replace” button to “insert”, drag and drop the wildlife movie clip.

It is a 30 seconds movie, if you want it shorter, change the start and stop properties.

Next, adjust the schedule for both window and video.

Click on video, and then click the alignment button, this is reduce the original 60 seconds clip to 30 seconds.
Next, click on fruits window. Adjust the duration to 1 minute instead of 30 seconds or your preferred time of display.

Click on group, then click alignment. This will automatically align all the group items and synchronize the group duration.

Creating a new library for touches.

Launch NoticeBoard and expand the library. Add a “New Folder”.

Drop your first picture.

Toggle the “Block” button to allows more objects to be drop into the first picture to create a set.

Drop the reminding pictures.

Click the picture in the “New Folder” and give it a name in the ID box. ID is required in order to link touch items.
Continue with the rest of your pictures.

After you finished populating as in this example, remember to save the library and give it a name, in this case “fruits”.

Create the touches.

Open your populated content project as template. Open the “fruits” library. Navigate to the fruit content. Change the top Tab to “Touch”. Click on a fruit image and drag the corresponding fruit set into the drop box as shown in the diagram.

Repeat for each of the fruit. Now you are done with creating the first touch hierarchy, which consists of 4 corresponding sets of fruits.

To create the second hierarchy of touches. You need to create the second hierarchy of items in the library, if you have not done so. In this case, I added another folder and drop more pictures of fruits into the new folder and expand the library.

Click the picture that you wanted set up additional touches. In the above it will show you the details of the set of fruit. Drag and drop to link the touches to the second hierarchy.

Likewise, you can continue with the process to create as many touch hierarchies as you needed, using the same or a different library.

After you have finished, now double click on the completed project ( template.rar, "fruits.ntb" ).

Wait 30 seconds for the first schedule window to complete, or simply click on the fruit banner to play it. When you click on any fruit. It will load all touches as shown below.

Click or touch a selected fruit to zoom it, next click or touch it and since this is a "set" it will load all pictures in that set.

So, if you had setup multiple hierarchies, you can simply nagivate with your mouse or finger through a series of touches or clicks.

Now, instead of displaying your touches in the touch pad, let's uncheck it.

Next, open the library and make changes to the set of image, we want to change the arrangement to vertical as shown.

Now, go back and play your project, and when you click or touches on a fruit, instead of loading to a pad, it will display it immediately, as in the case of a set, depending on the arrangement, you can finger scroll accordingly.


And if you have setup further touch hierarchies, you could navigate it down in the same manner.
