Socialite Jamie Chua, who had been seeking $450,000 a month in maintenance from her husband, settled her suit on Tuesday.

She and her estranged husband, Indonesian tycoon Nurdian Cuaca, agreed to an amicable settlement which was recorded in the High Court before Justice Tay Yong Kwang.

The terms are confidential, but the deal also meant the court lifted a freeze on the $93 million worth of assets belonging to Mr Cuaca that had been in force since the start of this year.

The deal marks the end of a high-profile divorce suit that threatened to expose the couple's personal lifestyles to the public glare.

Her ex-spouse, businessman Nurdian Cuaca, is an Indonesian multi-millionaire. The 36-year-old, whose maiden name is Jamie Chua Xin Yin, was a stewardess in Singapore Airlines before getting married to her 44-year-old husband. The couple spent 15 years together as husband and wife before filing for divorce in court last year. They had two children together during the course of their marriage. The estranged couple failed to show any strong reason for the divorce in court. According to online sources, it seems they just wanted to get rid of each other because their love had ended.

Nurdian Cuaca owns two houses in Sentosa Cove and Hong Kong, shares in a private company, a wine collection and three expensive cars – a Ferrari, a Porsche and a Lamborghini. The total value of company shares stands at $79.2 million while the two homes are worth $14.6 million. Jamie Chua has filed a petition in court and has successfully frozen her former husband’s $93m assets. Madam Chua is seeking $450,000 in monthly maintenance from Mr Cuaca. Mr. Cuaca is apparently not ready to give up his money to his ex wife as he is appealing against the decision in court.His appeal will hear a verdict in High Courts next month.

Getting into hot water with Interpol

Nurdian Cuaca, is reportedly on the Interpol list for fraud charges. However, a statement released yesterday to The Straits Times by Mr Cuaca’s lawyer cited that Cuaca is “unaware of any valid basis for the Interpol Red Notice, which appears to have originated from a source from Jakarta”.

The lawyer added that the 45-year-old businessman had traveled freely from Singapore to Indonesia and other countries since November. According to the Interpol website, the Red Notice is a “warrant to be circulated worldwide with the request that the wanted person be arrested with a view to extradition.”

Jamie Chua’s Struggle

Jamie Chua, who is frequently spotted at high society events in Singapore has been further thrown in the spotlight with the divorce battle. Mr Cuaca’s actions haven’t made it any easier either.

Her lawyers had applied for an asset freeze and interim maintenance order because Mr Cuaca had reduced her monthly maintenance amount and canceled her supplementary card. In explaining the decision to freeze Mr Cuaca’s assets, the judge said the latter was found to have transferred $3.2 million from a bank here to Indonesia.

Mr Cuaca had claimed this was funds belonging to his sister, Miss Risna. However, the judge wrote that there was strong evidence that the removal of the amount was to shrink the matrimonial assets that would be divided by the courts.

Given the circumstances, the judge said the withdrawal of that $3.2million “was not legitimate and was not justified.” In addition, he had also attempted on two occasions to dispose of his wine collection in their matrimonial home, and shut down the couple’s shoe business, Cloud 9 Lifestyle.

yes, i agree.. critical thinking is of vital importance for a human being to progress and develop properly. It will allow a human being to survive well and in any case, to mature better. When you meet a problem or in some kind of shit, critical thinking will save you. BUt a sinkie will try to check for some SOP to see if it is ok to proceed..

come to this question.. why do sinkies behave like that.. it has a lot to do with how the PAP govt and that fucktard LKY design the education system to make sinkies behave like that.. to follow rule and order without using a brain. So in order to keep themselves in power, they educated the sinkie this way. Set up a rule, and sinkie will follow without asking.. what a pathetic way to live.

cost of living too high? too stupid to get enough money, or both.

i think the best way to live in sinkieland is to be single and live a humble small flat. Getting a side line business where you can back yourself up and have a day job to get by.
liabilities are low and you have a minor asset or a few money earning assets to back you up. That is the happy way to live.

yup.. that is the flaw in the way sinkie are being educated and taught upon to behave in the society. They are too used in being conditioned to have a ready answer to any problematic situation. That is not how a human grow and behave, it is very unnatural.

after a sinkie is being educated this way. A sinkie is being "rewarded" by the for having a good life and stable living condition. Why good life? because if you keep on comparing to the other developing nations ( especially those around sinkieland), a sinkie simple brain which is being conditioned from his sinkie education will believe in that.

so the constant occurrence or i can say, a constant reminder of this sort of thing, for a period of time. A sinkie will think or conditioned to behave like that and it is the right thing to do. Now, when the sinkie reached this stage, the sinkie will be easily manipulated and will follow any law and rule without using the brain.

i would like to add.. all these are being done when the govt has controlled of the MEdia, your newspaper, tv programs and Radio, magazine..

thankfully, not internet.. hehe

by behaving like a robot, that is the right way to live. heheh.

A sinkie does not know that, he is trapping himself by behaving like that.

Socialite culture exists everywhere except in the most poor or closed countries. I believe it is a western invention that pervades to the rest of the world. What is so ironical is that the party who supplies the money for this kind of living is a willing party because it boosts his ego and standing. So in a way, although JC's lifestyle was made possible only because of this man's generosity, we can say that he deserves it. Not all dirty rich people follow this lifestyle though, especially the first generation wealthy families.
