Amy Khor surrenders. Will not engage 'irrational' sites. How to REACH out like that?

Confuseous

Amy Khor, chairman of REACH, has encouraged the Government to engage netizens on sites that "allow for reasoned and constructive debate and gain traction". "Netizens themselves who desire rational discourse should support such sites or else start them," she said.

Khor's speech in Parliament also reflected the PAP's alarm at the appeal of less rational websites – an alarm that may result in new legislation.

Citing a REACH survey, she said that it was "worrying" that only 62% agreed that with the statement that the “anonymous and chaotic nature of the internet often lends itself to negative views and ridiculous untruths, which can distort reality”.

She does not seem to realise that the challenge is to convince those with opposing views to your cause, NOT by preaching to those who are already in the Church! Looks like they have already given up the fight - just depend on legislation.

This govt appears unafraid to be kicked out in 2016.

They still have not learnt the lesson that the citizens want to be heard, not silenced.

The new generation will not be muzzled. They are not dogs. Information is readily available in the internet.

Amy has deemed all to be stupid and dumb because she thinks we are unable to differentiate true and honest postings from the sarcastic and tongue-in-cheek ones.

Adults know that only the truth hurts. Amy must be still trying to grow up.

she has more reason to worry. Only people with pro-establishment leaning will bother to visit REACH.

I like that quote from Amy Whore. I think she should look in the mirror first and ask who is the one spreading ridiculous truths and distort reality. By far the PAP is doing this with the help of the prostitute press. Nothing wrong with Patrick Tan 12 year deferment? Ridculous untruth if you ASK ME. Nothing wrong with billion $ losses in GIC and Temasek, just long term investments? That's just distorting reality.

No pt winning the intellectual argument lah. The 60.1% couldn't care less. They only know "PAP = good for Singapore, Opposition = unpatriotic traitors". People, by and large, are conservative. They are apprehensive about change. Only a catastrophe commensurate with the reverence the sheep hold for the PAPpies could sway them towards a change in government.

Exactly. They don't like it when they can't rule the internet like they rule the papers and albeit less so, TV. I always thought CNA, and Today, have a more independent streak.
