As mentioned, it doesn't matter to them about 'lease' property or not. Just that "% of population OWNS public housing, public housing prices going up = Singaporeans rich" That's what they want to portray to the rest of the world, and I might say they are really good at it. ;)

It doesn't matter if we are actually asset rich or not. By trumpeting the prices of our flats as well as the % of population actually 'owning' one, it gives the PAPzis bullet to announce to the world that we are generally 'rich'. That has been their agenda all the while. :)

We are asset rich but cash poor. Govt policy to make us asset rich so can brag to other countries, cash poor so we would depend on their measly handout, be grateful to them and still vote for them the next coming election. :D

Not really into US or Europe? Try Australia then. Nov-Dec period it's summer there, the weather should not be too much of a concern if you are worried about wet weather. Furthermore, Budget airlines like Jetstar should be having some promotions on airfare there.
