Business Owners! Mr Miyagi say we can get free money for our business. Sure or not?

Mr Miyagi recently wrote an article on how you can actually get grants such as the NTUC e2i Inclu*sive Growth Pro*gramme (IGP) and IRAS Pro*duc*tiv*ity and Inno*va*tion Credit (PIC). If free incentives like this I also want to start my own business. Maybe tuition centre for a start. When...

Overheard on HWZ: No one bats an eyelid at pregnant lady on SMRT train

But the lady in the video is very obviously pregnant. Actually I think sinkies lack social grace unlike people in Europe. We should learn to be kinder to people.

Debate on minimum wage is useless

actually ah boy, Singapore is already implementing progressive wage, some companies already started in cleaning sector. Starting September it will be implemented to all in cleaning sector, followed by security sector...

Why did the female security guard say her wage is "choking"?

My heart goes to the lady security officer interviewed, she's a single parent. It's true they're very lowly paid. I do hope the progressive wage initiative will help the security officer out. I wish Singaporeans will be more appreciative of the people that help us with our daily lives. Be it...

Debate on minimum wage is useless

Debate on minimum wage is useless

Minimum wage can't work. That's why you need progressive wage. You need a multi-faceted approach to help them out of their poverty. Read this article. I believe that we need to give cleaners and low income workers a chance too by helping them to upgrade. "He said low-wage workers should not be...

Debate on minimum wage is useless

Actually not true. I personally feel unions in Singapore still have power and are pushing for a lot for low income workers. NTUC's Lim Swee Say is the one that is pushing for minimum wage, but put a better model in place using progressive wage. I strongly support progressive wage to help the...

Debate on minimum wage is useless

One thing history taught us is the power of unions. Not all companies can be trusted, yes but unions speak for the workers. History lesson on the power of unions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ong_Teng_Cheong#Protest_against_the_United_States_embassy So surely unions like NTUC will be able to...

Debate on minimum wage is useless

Isn't progressive wage what is being done to help low income workers? We don't have a social welfare system. And I don't think we want to serve things on silver platter either. What should be done for low income workers is for people like you to go out there and help them out. Do you volunteer...

Debate on minimum wage is useless

Well it is a new policy. You can never know the success until you implement it. A lot of countries in the world already implement minimum wage, but ours is a tailored version which I feel is more fair. You're one to speak about talking less and do more. If you think something else can be done...

Debate on minimum wage is useless

What is being pushed right now in Singapore is progressive wage, and it is different from minimum wage. It gives workers a chance to advance in their jobs with pay increment. With progressive wage in place, low income workers can at least move themselves out of their poverty, slowly but surely.
