yeah thats weird...probably in the past...officials randomly picked Tamil as most migrants spoke that dialect....compared to the chinese...where there's teochew, hochew, Minan, mandarin and etc...

Its not suprising....Hindi is the national and official language of India.....just like Mandarin in China... Tamil is only spoken as a dialect in Tamil Nadu and a minority of Sri Lankan....

Language barrier is one thing and thats very normal.... Indians from India speaks Hindi which is their national language while sinkie Indians were taught in Tamil... Tamil is only spoken as in Southern India as a dialect and in Sri Lanka......
