Passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew

Re: Alternative Location to Mourn The Passing of Lee Kuan Yew Hopefully things won't turn out like the YOG where they made massive preparations and Singaporeans didn't bother to show up.

Passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew

Re: Alternative Location to Mourn The Passing of Lee Kuan Yew With aircon bus, chicken rice and memorabilia "goodie" bag, I am sure they can get a few hundred people to show up. If the grief was genuine and widespread, tens of thousands would have gone to the Istana by themselves.

Passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew

Re: Alternative Location to Mourn The Passing of Lee Kuan Yew Our msm seems to be having problems getting photos of large Singaporean crowds queuing to pay respects. Somewhat sad but the queues at Macs during the Hello Kitty craze appear to be much longer.

Passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew

Re: "Honey" by KARA So far, the reaction to his death has been somewhat cold and subdued. Aside from LHL who appeared grief stricken, there does not appear to have been any widespread outpouring of grief. Few Singaporeans appear to be making it a priority to take time off and take part in the...

For those planning to pay last respects, heard that the venue for ordinary members of public will be the Botanic Garderns.

History will be the final judge. Given the reaction on Wed, the signs are that history will be harsh. The following is an indication of the people he will be keeping company with: http://www.businessinsider.com/most-succesful-dictators-2011-6?IR=T&op=1

Interesting that this announcement comes so close to the weekend announcement of an additional national holiday to celebrate SG50. This Friday's PMO update on his health should be watched closely.

The latest PMO statement describes his condition as "unchanged". This is the clearest language yet that he is in aa coma from which he is unlikely to wake up from.

Re: "Mr Lee Kuan Yew's condition 'improves slightly': PMO - Channel NewsAsia" It is Friday - time for the usual PMO statement that he is "stable" and "sedated" but "recovering".

Re: "Mr Lee Kuan Yew's condition 'improves slightly': PMO - Channel NewsAsia" There isn't any known pneumonia treatment protocol which requires the patient to be continuously sedated to the point of unconsciousness for such a prolonged period (> 1 month). Also continuous use of strong...

Re: "Mr Lee Kuan Yew's condition 'improves slightly': PMO - Channel NewsAsia" With each passing day, the story that he is "recovering" becomes less and less likely. The lack of pictures is another tell tale sign. Given his "stable" condition, the original assessment that this will drag out...

Re: "Mr Lee Kuan Yew's condition 'improves slightly': PMO - Channel NewsAsia" How long more can they keep up the pretense that he is in hospital for "pneumonia"? Based on reports, he has: 1) Been in the ICU for more than 1 month 2) Not conscious ("lightly sedated") 3) On a mechanical ventilator

Re: Lee kuan yew admitted to icu with severe pneumonia Hero or villain, we should respect a dying man's wishes. I have seen this in so many cases... Quite often, the doctors and relatives of the patient believe they should keep life going. I do not agree. There is an end to everything and I...

Re: Lee kuan yew admitted to icu with severe pneumonia We will be on death watch as long as no pictures emerge. Given the high level of care he has been receiving, it is somewhat suspicious as to how he could have contracted pneumonia. IMHO, it is likely that the pneumonia is a cover story...

Re: Lee kuan yew admitted to icu with severe pneumonia At this point in time, it is unlikely that he will make a full recovery and be discharged from hospital. It is however equally unlikely that this will be over in a week or so.
