Try beef stew noodle ( Chinatown - the hugh hawker center, can't remember the name ) which comes with beef tendon. I suppose eat all things in moderation won't do you harm, unless you are allergic to it. I love beef stew and fried black beans beef hor fun, and it's frustrating to know there...

Yes the chilli is far too hot for me. Joo Chiat seems to have lots of wan ton mee stalls that are quite popular, Send, Eng, Fei Fei and Hong Mou. But I still prefer my quiet neighbourhood stall at Haig Road Hawker Center. Lot's of pork lard, dried and soup wan ton plus nice mild chilli sauce, yummy!

You mean balachan ? Or the one use for Rojak? Yes the former can be added to it in small quantities to spice up the flavour.

I think he meant dried prawns pounded into paste. Which I agree is the key ingredient to Laksa! Without it and laksa leaf, it would not do for me.

No, not fish finger of birdseye, and nothing like local fish cake, texture is more like local nasi padang bean cake or something like that. I have also bought at Harry's takeaway counter before, although not as good.

Too poor to try the fish while I was in UK, but the fish cake and chips with pea curry were yummy!:)
