I haven't been to Singapore for a long time - many many years. I thought SG has gone first world and no longer ask for photo. If you say it is still being practiced, then yucks, a person's looks should have no relation to his ability to do a job. SG companies should stop asking for photos.

Last time SG employers would ask for passport photo in the job ad, this is pure discrimination, worse than asking for age, sex, marital status etc. :eek:

The problem is that nurses and other support staff are over worked and stressed. I have come across nurses working on 12-hour shifts continuously due to understaffing.

2 million is a lot of people but still manageable. When it hit 3.8 million, it will be as crowded and busy as in Singapore. But Australia is big, as the population grows, the city can grow in space, Singapore can only reclaim that much of land

Relative in your view perhaps. Not in the view of a 90 years-old woman who has to fly 17 hours from Singapore to North America. The journey home is yet another 17 hours and that is what long distance really is.

Whoops! Lack of clarity in my writing :o. I meant compared to 17 hours of flight time to the west coast of North America. Visiting relatives is so much easier if the adopted country is in the Ocenia area.
