A Singaporean's guide to living in Thailand

Looks like a great time. Thanks for the pics. I've been there (as well as multiple other Tawandengs - every big city seems to have one) but you really need to know Thai songs to enjoy fully. Or be drunk; both I don't do very well. There always seems to be a birthday party every time I'm there :D

Bangkok price same same. I was recently at a pub@Saphan Kwai. No special drink price for PR but you pay per block of time for them to sit and drink. Big beer something like 150 or 180B? Not expensive.

Wah nice hotel. Never been to Udon but came close a couple years ago. Already had airtickets, booked Top Mansion for a few nights, hotel reservations in Vientiane a night etc. all planned out. Had to pull out last minute because some $&@@#% chick changed her mind. Regret I was so pussy-whipped...

Ouch! That's crazy cold. I've never ever gotten used to the cold but it's not nearly as bad (still very bad though): most people don't spend that much time outdoors when it gets this cold and if they do, when you dress in appropriate layers, you don't really feel it except for your nose/face...

Unfortunately I used up all my Japan quota for the year :( I was in KIX, HND and NRT all in the first 2 weeks of the year. New Year's week is always fun in Japan with Hatsumode activities. As they say in Japan, all the fun stuff occurs with Shinto rites and all the depressing ones are Buddhist.

Looks like we were in Japan at the same time - wouldn't it be funny if we bumped into each other at Namba? 555. I just got back from a week in the Kansai area. Weather was nice, not too cold.

Thanks for the scouting. Some questions if I may. What do you mean by "on the other side" - exit Gate 3, cross the road and go to the opposite building structure? What level - not departures (Level4) for sure, arrivals (Level 2)? one below arrivals (taxi level)? Again, very useful info for...

Breakfast looks lovely. The only time I drink illy is when I fly United Airlines (that's what they exclusively serve in air and in the lounge) but I like it.. Just curious, after so many years in Thailand, do you still think in terms of SGD? For me, when I am in Thailand, I look at THB prices...

Thanks for all the great photos and ideas for Chiang Mai. I'll know where to go the next time. I find it interesting that there is a Singapore school in CNX - perhaps as a stepping stone to attending school in Singapore. However, in all honesty, having gone through 18 years in one, if I had...

I see you've combined the smaller bowls into one bigger bowl. Pretty smart. Don't forget the sambal, found near the chwee kueh on the side. Safe travels Froggy

Flags were gone 2 days later when I visited the lounge. Good news is laksa is back (last 2 times, it was replaced by tom yum kung). Bad news is the ondeh-ondeh has disappeared. Hope it is temporary. The internet in this lounge has always been shaky for me. Frequent disconnects.
